I didn't put in a claim with f'ed Ex due to the handling and time involved in processing the claim. I'd still have to fix it and who knows what additional issues may have risen. What I did do is a little experiment with the hinges. I've been making these for years and never really had an issue. Tonight though, I decided to make several sets and try to break them. This was a profitable experiment. What I found was that hinges made with 1/4 sawn material were stronger than hinges made with top sawn material. In addition, I'll be soaking them in cyanoacrylate before assembly. So for any of you guys that are going to build your own humidor with any kind of wood hinges, let me save you some trouble. This will save you a lot of grief. Either cut of wood will make a strong hinge but the 1/4 sawn is just better. :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs:
