ok, so here it is (finally... :whistling: )
awhile ago, someone (Thanks Wurm! oops...) gifted me a Griffins Special Editon 2005 and asked if I'd write a review. So, finally, I'm getting to it (after forgetting it, along with my travel humi, as well as not smoking it when i did have the humi!)
so here's the setting: my annual trip to the Copper River for dip netting the infamous Copper River Red Salmon (I got my limit of 30, thank you very much). It's the only trip my older brother and I do together, without fail. So we're exhausted from working hard all day, and sitting around the campfire. A few great beers (I brought fresh beer in growlers), the sun was setting, we had a cow moose and its calf eating the weeds in the lake only 10 feet from us, and a whole mess of other great things- sunburns, a loon living on the lake, bald eagles flying around, the northern lights were starting to show... and so on. So I grabbed the Griffins and decided to fire it up.
hand made in The Dominican Republic
Robusto vitola
Wrapper: Ecuadorian-grown Connecticut Seed
Binder: Dominican
Filler: San Vicente & Ligero Blend
(or so the websites say!)
it was sealed in a glass tube, with a cork stopper. The construction looked flawless, and pretty inviting. Clipping went smooth, and the initial test draw showed a possible loose draw. Lighting went great, and a very even burn was started. The aroma was pleasant, with nothing notable to report at first.
the first puff proved the loose draw was true. It was a little light on the draw, however I found that it was not that bad. the reason was there was a load of smoke with each draw, even a small one. And I like lots of smoke! And the more I niffed the smoke, it had a aroma that mirrored the taste- nice and flavorful.
the flavor was pretty remakable- for some reason I was getting a very peppery, somewhat spicy taste on every draw, from the first to the last. And I like a cigar with a lot of flavor like that! There was never a hard flavor, taste or any ash flavor, and every draw, right to the nub I smoked it to, was pleasant, smooth and enjoyable.
The burn stayed flawless till the end, and the ash was a nice light grey/white which held on very, very well.
I wish I could give the detailed review like some others here, but this is the best I can do. All I can do is give the  on this cigar and say it's a must try!
