The #1 Buckeyes vs. the #2 Wolverines

Can THE GAME live up to the hype?

I have a premium 5er that says The Buckeyes send the Wolverines back to Ann Arbor with their first loss of the year!!

As I am particularly fond of cigars from the Fuente's, I am willing to risk:

1. Anejo #77 Shark
2. DC Maximus Corona #1
3. Ashton ESG
4. Hemingway - BTL
5. Hemingway - WOAM

But let's make it a bit more interesting! The loser, also, has to include a licensed ballcap from the winning team, but before mailing it to the winner has to post a picture here on CP while wearing it!!

So if The Buckeyes lose, I have to send the above smokes and take a photo of myself wearing a Michigan ballcap, post it in this thread, and then include it with the cigars.

Any Maize and Blue fans out there that think you have a chance? First PM gets to show your faith!!

Go Buckeyes!!

Well it's been almost 24 hours since I started this post, and no takers from the "Land of the Maize and Blue".

My guess is you have all been out celebrating your win over Indiana, and haven't had time to check the boards, as I'm sure it's not that your afraid to wager.

Go Buckeyes!!

Jay, I got your PM, thanks. Now that I'm in NY for work, I don't have Internet access other than at work, and I've been warned about visiting sites like this while at work (luckily your PM came through on email). So I haven't been on CP in quite some time. Of course I'll take your wager; there's nothing better than free cigars. Michigan already lost this year (to Nebraska - same year, different season), so it's impossible for the Buckeyes to send them home with their first loss. Please mail the cigars to...

Seriously though, I will take the bet as you intended it to be. I don't know what cigars I'll have, but I assure you they'll be comparable (maybe swisher sweets of various flavors? just kidding, of course).

My game analysis: They should just call this the National Championship Game. IMO, these are the best two teams in the land. There were never any close games for either school (like Florida-South Carolina, USC-Washington/Arizona, ND-MSU/UCLA, etc.) like there have been for the highly ranked teams that have a loss (although I'm kind of glad ND came back against MSU to give the classic meltdown of Mike Valenti). Nobody's come close to stopping OSU's offense or beating Michigan's defense.

Michigan is going to have to contain and get pressure on Troy Smith, which they haven't done the last couple years (of course they didn't have this defense in recent years either). Breaston's breakout game last week will be helpful, but Manningham really needs to be at 100% speed wise. Hart needs to have a great game also. The only thing that's certain about a Michigan-OSU game is that nothing's ever certain. There have been many huge upsets over the years, but I think these are two of the best, most evenly matched teams that have met.

And don't worry Jay, I'll send you a towel this week so you can start drying your tears when the clock runs to 0:00...

Finally a Michigan fan who thinks his team can win!!

OK, I stand corrected, Michigan's first loss THIS SEASON!! And, like you, my mailing address is in my profile, so you know where to send those Swisher Sweets, White Owls, etc. By the way, after seeing the review on the grape here on CP, I'll opt for one of the other flavors, maybe something in a citrus.

Pretty much have to agree with your analysis of the game. I truly feel OSU and U of M are the 2 best teams in the country at this point in time. Both had a quality non-conference away win, OSU spanked Texas in Austin and Michigan did the same to Notre Dame on the Golden Domer's home field.

Michigan #1 overall defense.
Ohio State #1 scoring defense.

Both have excellent running and passing games, but I think if it comes down to it, OSU has the big edge on the sidelines, Jim Tressel seems to have Lloyd Carr's number, the way Carr had our former coach, John Cooper's number.

Glad to hear from you, and looking forward to a great game this Saturday. BTW....I will be there!! So if by some strange cosmic occurrance, Ohio State would happen to lose, I won't be back in SC until late Monday to deal with mailing out the winnings.

Will be great to see your picture here on CP wearing an OSU ballcap!!

Looks like this is a done deal!!

Go Buckeyes!

Don't you mean just like Yost had Wilce's number, Bo had Woody's number, Oosterbaan had Fesler's number, Carr had Cooper's number, etc.?

One of the guys I work wiht is from Michigan and kept trying to talk me into going to the game. If it were at Michigan, I'd be there, but I value my safety and well-being too much... I've never had an ESG and am looking forward to my first one!

I've never had an ESG and am looking forward to my first one!

You might try your local B&M!! :D In your honor I might have to smoke it after the game, celebrating another Buckeye win!

I must admit that Woody's record against Bo was only 4-5-1, but overall he was 16-11-1 against "Big Blue", while Bo was only 11-9-1 against The Buckeyes!! But I'll give Michigan credit for hiring Bo, as he had been an assistant under Woody at OSU two times!! Steal where you can! :whistling:

Even Earle Bruce had a winning record against Michigan 5-4-0, and he was let go as his overall record was "only" 81-26-1.

Seriously, should be a great game, and I can only hope it lives up to all the hype!!

Go Buckeyes!!

This game is 2 days away and I am not hearing near enough chatter/trash talk from you fans! "The" Ohio State is currently favored by 7. This is going to be a great game..
