As Cohibin has been banned, I still feel obligated to uphold my end of the deal. He sent me the smokes to review, so I'm doing it.
Where the "questionable" light-skinned EL was good (although not a real EL), the Culebra was not at all worth lighting.
The construction was phenomenal, and frankly, I'm not sure how the heck the roller managed to actually braid the thing w/ out tearing it to shreds. Most Culebras I've seen in the past have been simply intertwined and easily split apart. There's no way you could split this thing. It's one unit for sure. Absolute eye candy, but not much to smoke.
It clipped well an had a nice wrapper w/ an oily sheen, but man was it weird in the mouth. I soon found that it's not possible to get your lips wrapped around something triangular. This lead to not being able to draw much smoke. Furthermore, all of that braiding severly hampered the draw as well.
In terms of taste, it tasted like a young, green Cuban cigar. Definite grass and wet hay undertones and a bitter finish.
It was downright nifty how as the ash burned, it actually stayed braided. I wish the draw would have been better because this would have made for a great pic.
Again, there was no doubt that this was a Cuban cigar. It was evident. It wasn't a Cohiba, but we knew that already. I can't say I'm entirely sure what the blend was, as the cigar was just too young to get beyond the barnyard frenzy of flavors. Some guys dig the young ones...I don't
I feel kind of bad about smoking the thing, as it really was very neat looking and I liked having it in the humi. But hey, I said I'd smoke it and I did. I'm a word of my man, er, man of my word, er man who drops turd. Yeah, that's it. Man who drops turd.
