Every once in a while I stumble on gold. This time with The Briary in Homewood, Alabama. These guys run a pipe shop out of an old converted farmhouse, but they haven't forgotten about cigar smokers. They have a nice walk in humidor and a great lounge. The prices are nice too. Bought 4 of their "Briary blends" bundled cigars - Excellent for a bundle and dirt cheap. Also bought a CAO MX2 and a CAO Italia. All told $19.98! I blow more than that on crap at my local shop in Tuscaloosa, AL! Give these guys a try. The boss walked me around the place and made suggestions the whole time. And as of yesterday they had a shipment of Opus X come in! Probably gone now though!

Check em out. These guys are great. It's all about comeraderie!

Later!

I've been to these guys' place. They used to have a tiny shop in Brookwood Village mall in Homewood, Alabama (on Lakeshore). Right next to that old Steak and Ale and Publix/Vincent's Supermarket beneath that big mountain and just shy of where Vulcan used to stand. An Irishman, Chip??, with redhair used to run the joint. Great guy. Beautiful pipe selection too, with great tobaccos. Even back then, when the cigar boom was just getting started, he had an outstanding cigar selection and walk-in, even in that tiny mall spot. Glad to see he's gotten a bigger spot now. Good to see him plugged here too.

yeah that guy's name is Skip and he's the one who helped me the other day. Their new joint is awesome, with hardwood everywhere and leather couches and rocking chairs, and antique dupont's and meerchaums

He always did used to have quite a selection. Some of those meerschaums he used to have were downright atrocious. I mean some with big large mouth bass heads for bowls. :) But, to each his own.

But, I've not been there in decades and, even then, was only passing through. But I went there a few times and quite enjoyed it. You should make it a home away from home. ;) I 'm sure you will. :) :)
