I’m still new to cigars and believe that I’ll still be new to cigars five years from now. My palate will change and my vocabulary will expand, but that first sensation of smelling a great cigar will never change. I did a trade with a great BOTL for five of these and was not disappointed.

Prelight
Each cigar was still wrapped in cellophane and had a cedar sleeve still attached. The only issue I had with the cigar was a minor one; some white mold plume was underneath the cedar sleeve. This was brushed off easily and did not affect the nature of the smoke. The smell was heavy in tobacco

Initial burn
A simple xikar guillotine cutter was used and a smooth cut was made just below the cap. The cigar had no burn issues and drew very smoothly. The initial taste was remarkable. Loads of tobacco fill the mouth and the smoke was dense and cool and rolled off the tongue.

Taste
I have yet to experience a cigar that tasted stronger after the smoke left my mouth. This was that cigar. A strange thing happened a few minutes into the smoke. I set down the cigar and an extreme sense of nicotine and spice rested on my tongue. My head started to spin and I thanked God that I had chosen water over scotch that evening. The taste increased after I sipped some water. It was not unpleasant and reminded me of the feeling you’d get after eating some nice hot sauce. The cigar lasted over and hour and a half. The taste was consistent and strong throughout the cigar.

Overall
I’ve never smoked anything as good as this cigar. This was defiantly above my experience and if the cigar lacked anything, it would be the words to describe it.
Get them if you can.

Great review! More and more I am getting the idea I should save up a bit for the fall anejo shipment so I can try some of these

Nice review for a good cigar!

As Brickhouse often says, "I had to take a knee." Sometimes
they just get you when you are not looking. :whistling:

Nice review and thanks for the pics. They are making me drool! This is my favorite anejo.

I also experienced mold underneath the cedar on most of my 48's and 49's. Is this something common? Perhaps they pack them slightly wetter than say the Cuban Beli's. However, it has never spread to any of my other cigars. Probably because I keep my RH at 63% or so. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for the fantastic review. I can't ait for these to come out. I was preparing for some to be released around fathers day, and ended up sadly dissapointed. Anyway, Anejo season is around the corner.

Excellent review and pics! I can't wait to try an Anejo.

Great review, have to get me some of those. Sounds like the affect the OpusX had on me, but I was drinking scotch which heighten the effect.

Great review. If I could smoke "anything" I wanted to, 48's and 49's are right at the top of the list for the reasons you mention. Their complex, intense flavors really float my boat...

Best regards - B.B.S.

I have one aging in my box, I don't plan on smoking it for 10-15 years.

Nicely done review, Mark. You did an admirable job indeed!

BTW, although you did not use the "technical" term, you described the substantial finish on your palate. The longer, the stronger and more pleasant, the better.

Wilkey

Mold and Anjeos go hand in hand from my experience, and from what I have been told

Also if I am not mistaken they are aged in cognac barrels. One of my favorite smokes.

Jabba,

Smoke the damn thing...do a review...and I will reimburse you for your torture! 10-15 years is stupid...I want you to enjoy the Anejo. Be like Atuck...be an "Anejore"! PM when you do! We all want to know your pleasure!!!!!!!!
