Today I picked a cigar that I've had in my humidor for a good long time and was waiting for the right moment to smoke.
A few years back I had a bad spill on the ice and cracked a few of my ribs. During this same time period our intrepid Alaskan fireman, Swissy injured himself and we decided to exchange "Get well soon!" bombs.
One of the cigars Jim included was a at that time 4 year-old Shark, and while I've had other sharks since, this was my first and meant a great deal to me because who had sent it to me.
Well earlier this week Tom (Hudson Valley) passed on and a bunch of the CP brothers decided we should smoke a good one in his honor today. And when Tom was here last year visiting with us, he told Dale and I that Sharks were one of his favorite cigars, as he gifted us both one from his private stash to smoke with him.
Well what better time to fire up the now 6 year-old shark that flew all the way from Alaska to me here in Germany.
And to accompany this fine cigar I chose "The TYRCONNELL" Single Malt Irish Whiskey
After aging for so long this Shark's wrapper looked and felt like fine leather, and smelled wonderful
The first inch did the cigar no justice and I started to wonder if it had peaked during the time it was in my humidor... but then like a bolt of lightning it brought that wonderful sweetness that is the reason we love Anejo and I knew that cigar was going to do Tom proud. It burnt razor sharp and the ash held like a champ until I bumped the table with my foot and jarred it off.
At the 1 and 1/2 inch mark the cigar let me know it was done and I put it out shortly after this picture was taken.
Tom, brother you will be missed by us here at CP and by everyone who got to know you in your too short of a visit on this planet. Thanks for humor you shared with us while herfing out at the skeet-range lodge.
Jim, thanks for this great cigar, it was truly a pleasure to smoke.
