Regardless of the outside temperature, the humidity in my humidor is consistent(68-70). However, the temperature in the humidor is another story. It fluctuates with the outside temperature, which concerns me. The cost of regulating the temperature, in my home, during he summer and winter months can be expensive, so, I don't like to turn the heat on or the air conditioner until it becomes unbearable. These extreme conditions effect the temperature in ny humidor. So, my question is is there a device that can regulate both humidity and temperature in my humidor. I am currently using beads to regulate the humidity in a Daniel Marshall humidor(100 stick capacity) . Thanks for your time and response.

Try placing your humidor in an interior closet within your house. That would minimize the swings in temperature. With a small humidor temperature is hard to regulate, in the summer you can keep your humidor inside a cooler or a basement. Hope that helps.

Other than the costly alternative of purchasing a temp control unit, I think tone-ny gave you some good ideas.

x2... Anthony hit the nail on the head with his advice. I have all my coolers and humidors in a closet (since my failed attempt at purchasing a temp controlled cabinet). My temperature and humidity has been consistent only fluctuating a degree/percent or so, respectively. I do use those small Oust fans (sans odor units) to push the air around inside my coolers. I'm not sure what the summer months will bring, but I do run my A/C so I imagine the closet will continue to say cool, hopefully below 69. Geez... I wonder how that closet will look with Spanish Cedar panelling ???

It won't solve your problem 100%, but that's the best you can do, unless you actually run your heater/AC.

I have the same issue here in South Florida. I dont run the A/C in the winter byt the temp in the house is still always about 78 and its 78 in my large tower humi (that wont go in a closet cause its 6 feet tall). In the summer I only run the A/C at 77 degrees. Even only cooling the house to 77 in the summer the electric bill is like 600-700 dollars a month which is painful to say the least.

What can I do to get that humi cooler in it? I bought the two aux fans that go with my oasis II XL unit so there is good airflow in it. ITs hard to deal with temp down here in fla

I have been researching this topic recently.

My research has focused on "thermoelectric" chips, which create a cool side and a hot side. Someone is already producing humidors with these built in, but I was trying to come up with system that could be installed in existing humidors.

I haven't got any master plan yet. If anyone finds a good plan for this, I'd like to hear about it. I think the chips are relatively cheap and don't consume a whole lot of electricity. Only trouble is, it will heat the air outside of the humidor, so it might not be good for you guys in hot climates.

Try some ice packs during the summer. Make sure you wrap them to avoid adding extra moisture to the cabinet. Add them in the morning and put them back in the freezer at night and repeat. That should get your temps down some. I would also try to keep the cabinet away from the wall so you get some circulation in the back of the cabinet and place a small fan near the back to assist that circulation. Hope that helps.

HERE is what I did to rectify the situation.

I was just about to say, 8 responses and nobody has mentioned a wine cooler? This seems to be an ideal solution, as you can do all sorts of things with it. The fridge will keep the temp constant, and you can leave it alone, or line it with cedar, or make cedar shelves, etc. Easy, and alto cheaper than gas/electric bills

Basically I went with the little or no money solution. If you want to go that route you could spend quite a bit more and not worry about the temps.

Yeah I just bought and spent about 800 on my large cabnet humi and I am looking for a way to make THAT cooler. I dont want to ditch it and buy a vinotemp. I'll have to figure someting else out.

sell it for 700 and buy a few wine coolers :whistling:

I am with the wine cooler guys. Here in NE Florida it is still Africa hot for most of the year, my VT sits steady at 65F/64%.

I can not swing the $$ for a cooled cabinet, but @ about $350 this was the next best thing.

Not what you are looking for, but in the end it will be the most cost effective means of keeping your stash cool. I know a beatle outbreak could cost me a few thousand dollars if I was deployed for a few months when it happened. so it is just a drop in the bucket for peace of mind.

Gentlemen, thanks for the replys! Yes, I will try the closet and I am going to look into a wine cooler. I can make one cheaper than I can buy one.
