Hey everyone, as you can tell I am new to CP =). I'm sorry if this has been answered, but I tried the search function and couldn't find the exact question I was looking for.

Well here it goes. I keep my cigars in a small humidor (25 cap) and the room usually has the AC on, which brings the temp to about 66F. I just ordered some heartfelt beads, 65 and 70%. I plan to use the 65% for the cigars that are ready to smoke. So my question, is 66F/65% perfectly fine? Ive read the lower the temp, the higher the RH, so this is where my confusion settles in. Also, sometimes when I leave my house for a long period of time, I turn my AC off, which brings temps to +/- 78F.(assuming RH stays at 65%) Should I avoid that and maybe move them to a cooler part of the house when I turn off the AC?

So mainly: is 66F/65% ok?, is the varying temp bad for the cigars? what temp would be too high even if RH stays at 65?

Maybe I should sacrifice energy savings to keep my cigars cool? =P

Thanks! I'm open ears to everyone's opinion, so don't be shy :D

Anything over 72 degree for a prolonged time some say is border line and over 75 degree your inviting beetles. I wish I could keep mine at 66 degrees/ 65%RH i would be a happy man.

Best Regards
Don

Mine stays at about 72 73 degrees at 63%-64% RH and I haven't had any problems what so ever.

My cigars are all stored at 66-68*F and 64-66% humidity. They have been for a few years now and they smoke great.

I would try to move the humidor to a cooler part of the house during the times you have the AC off for any period of time (like a week). It would be optimal to keep the temp and RH steady, but we all have to do what we have to do to balance things out in life.

Good luck! Sounds like you're on the right track.
