What do you plan (or did you do) to celebrate this national holiday. I miss the small community celebrations that we used to have every year as a kid when I was growing up.

We used to have events like tug of war, greased watermelon event in the pool, three legged race, and the ever funny egg toss. There was always good food that you did not have to pay for, everyone just chipped in. Then the evening was capped by an awe inspiring fireworks display after the parade.

Today we will be going to check out a small town celebration in the foot hills of the Shenendoah mountains to see if we can capture that same magic for our children.

That sounds really nice...today i am working til after lunch... But after that i don't know...I am sure we will go see "Thunder on the Mountain" before karoake though...and growing up I used to go to the golf course in my home town and do the small town 4th of July thing...loved it...Happy 4th everyone!

It's gonna be too hot in Vegas to do anything but sit by the pool.

Happy 4th!

Sounds like a great idea John!

I am in Wisconsin visiting my daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons who live in the beautiful northwoods. We plan to cook a big breakfast over a campfire and I am going to cook for the clan all day. The menu includes beer butt chicken, porterhouse steaks, corn on the cob, new red potatoes, and brats and dogs by the fire tonight!

When the boys go down for a nap I will smoke my first cigar! After they go to bed I will have my second and maybe third.

Cook, eat, drink and do Mary

(if my wife lets me :p)

I have to work today also :(

Normally we'd to go the parade in the morning, but it's raining anyway. If they're not cancelled, we'll be going to the fireworks tonight.

Happy Independence Day everyone!

Play with explosives. They never would let me play with them in the Navy.

Doc.

I am going to the Danny Dietz memorial dedication, then BBQ at the home, then off to a firewrorks show with some family friends and my parents. Cigars during the BBQ and Fireworks!

We were going to smoke briskit but the rain has been so bad here (my backyard is a swamp) we've decided to do a movie this afternoon and maybe watch a big fireworks display tonight if it's not raining. We're supposed to get rain everyday for the next week or so.

Yuck!!

:(

Burgers, Dogs, Beers on ice, Sodas for the kids, Spud Salad, Pasta Salad, Baked Beans, chips and homemade salsa, grill going all day, cigar after cigar, explosives after dark, and about 30 assorted kids, friends, neighbors and co-workers to help us pull it off and eat all this food....!!

As a kid growing up, my parents and us kids would all go see the local fireworks display in my home town after BBQ'ing and hanging out at home during the day. The show here in Vancouver has gotten "too big" IMHO....people are heading down to the park NOW to get a spot and it'll be a huge mob scene all day. Fine if you dig that....I sure don't. Plus, you can see the HUGE fireworks display from pretty much any high point in town anyway.....

Happy 4th, folks - B.B.S.

Not too much... I am on call all day so I will just sit around the pool and eat while I wait for my phone to ring.

Dry rubbed BBQ ribs, Negra Modela, Bolivar Belicoso FIno

Tonight: Def Leppard, Styx and Cohiba.

Three tri tips, lots of beer, a few smokes, and some fireworks for good measure. Should be a blast!

I'm in Mendocino CA. Beautiful part of the country. Rugged cliffs and wild surf. The little town is very quaint with shops my wife loves...home grown, home made,
organic, natural and all that kind of stuff. We plan to watch their parade, I'm told it's very small but what the hell. I'm about to smoke a GOF before we head into town.
This evening, as Ray mentioned, cook, drink, smoke and do Mary and get Mary to do me too

Have a great day friends.

Brian

Beat the drum and hold the phone, the sun came out today....

Steaks, taters, salad, and Bob Dylan on the radio.

Padilla 8-11
Local Brewery IPA

Life is good!!

Dang we needed a break!!

:D

Went to a parade this morning, real good time. Some excellent bands. And the girls wear less and less every year, and every year I tell my wife, "If I had daughter, I'd never let her out of the house like that." True, but...

Then it was up on the roof scraping some paint and caulking. Onward to the grill, where...

I cooked the best steaks I've ever cooked. Filet mignons wrapped in bacon, sauteed with butter, parsley and onion, topped with bleu cheese. Christ, I'm stuffed.

Back up to the roof after that, and now finishing it all off on the patio with a JJ Belicoso. Real good day. Although it's like Saigon out here right now. Pop, pop, bang, bang bang bang.

Hope everyone celebrated well.

I washed dried eggs off my car this morning. Kids these days...

Everyone's car on my street got pegged.

Well for those who went to the hurf, you know I am still rolling 3:35 am 5th, becouse that is how we do. :sign:

Sorry and the cigar is a 55 shark. :whistling:

I would have had to have called that coming full circle, or what goes around comes around.
