The first thing that really jumps out at me is that this thing is sticky. You can see the oils and you know that this thing is going to be great. It's a bit larger than I usually smoke (6 ½ x 60) and I was content on letting this sit for awhile, but curiosity got the best of me and I burned it up tonight.

First apperance, it's very oily. Medium to dark brown color and very well constucted. Slighly bumpy, but otherwise flawless. Has a pleseant smell to it.

Pre light draw was inviting. Very slight tobacco taste, subtle anise and a hint of caramel.

Lighting this was very easy. The wrapper extends past the foot giving it a little extra ease in getting this monster lit. I appreciated this alot since I am running low on butane. I had a very intense blast of pepper and spice for the first few puffs, but that quickly mellowed out into a superb bittersweet chocolate taste. It was a very nice compliment to the cup of coffee I had brought out to drink.

Hitting the halway mark, I was expecting it to evolve into something else, but it hadn't. But that's okay with me because I had been enjoying the bittersweet chocolate taste and wasn't ready to give that up. Rounding off the the last third of the cigar it did pick up a bit and I was tasting caramel and the spice started to pick up again...but not alot like in the begining.

The finish was long and quite flavorfull. I think the sugars were really starting to burn up in the finish giving it a real caramalized taste to it. Not sweet, but really enjoyable.

According to the Tatuaje site, this paticular vitola comes 12 to a box. I would really like to pick up a box and see what a couple of years would do to it.

 I would like to thank Brad for this great cigar. It was an awesome hour and a half.

One of my favorite cigars I have had in 2005.
The triple cap on it is almost to cool to cut off!

Those, IMHO, are good cigars but really need about 2 years on them before they will be great! Nice review.

I guess I need to revisit this cigar. I had a corona sized Tatuaje that I really liked. Then, I smoked the Cojonu. Did not care for it at all. It did not burn well and did not have that great taste that was present in the corona. That was after around a year of age on it.

Hmmmmm, I guess it is about time for a trip the Drapers in DC. They are the closest store with the Tatuajes.

I've had a few Tatujae's here in AZ. One shop keeps a steady supply of them.

I've been wanting to try one but haven't found one yet. Where do you get them here in Phx?

Had one the other night. It was pretty good. Not something I will run out and buy a box of though.

This cigar is a monster! When I first saw it, I thought maybe it was an Imenso or something. I had never heard of a Tatuaje before, and had even more difficulty finding out much information on them. But it is fun to learn more about cigars. From what I did find, it sounded like putting some age on them would be a good thing, but my curiosity got the best of me the other night.

The cigar has a great appearance; nice dark, oily, and smooth wrapper. The end (foot?) isn't cut, the filler is, but the wrapper extends beyond a little and looks kind of like a Natural. The extra does give it a unique look and help it to light evenly.

These days I like to punch the end of non tapered cigars, but with the 60 ring gauge I was afraid it wouldn't draw very well after smoking it awhile. I figured I could always cut the end if I needed to later, so I punched as usuall and was pleasantly suprised how well it did draw. It had a really nice pre-light taste both through the draw and on my lips.

It lit well and burned really evenly all the way through, very slowly and provided a ton of smoke. The very first centimeter or so seemed a little harsh. But it mellowed out right away and had a smooth, full bodied flavor. I guess this is one cigar that I might claim had a buttery taste. I really enjoyed it all the way through, even when it did get a little tight to draw at the very end. It made for a great night of online poker! (I even won).

I don't think I would have ever known about this cigar, let alone tried one had it not been for the generosity of a fellow BOTL. Thanks Brad!

What he said!

I was really suprised by this cigar, other Tat's I have tried have been very strong, good, but very strong. This cigar was very nice, smooth, enjoyable.

My thanks to Brad also... a BotL if there ever was one.

The Noellas ( petite corona ) and lanceros are ass kickers for sure. You don't want to smoke them on an empty stomach. Nice Nic flavors with a ton of nose.

I just looked at one of these today...it's fuggin' huge! The wrapper looks exactly like the wrapper on an ISOM H. Upman #2 that I just got the other day. Great looking cigar...but way too big for me.
