Thought I'd do a review on one these Pete Johnson creations, as I have not done anything in quite awhile.

Size: 4.5 x 52 (It looks)
Wrapper, Filler, Binder: All Nicaraguan Ligero from what I've read (correct me if I am wrong).

My initial impression of this cigar was that it looked a little intimidating for such a compact cigar. The dark oily wrapper an pre-light smell of this cigar just screamed "I'm gonna kick your ass!"
I made sure to eat a good meal before lighting up.

The first few draws produced thick copious clouds of smoke that sent brown smoke out of the head and white smoke out of the foot between draws. I don't know what it is about Johnson/Pepin creations, but they always start out so damn intense for the first 1/4 inch. The pepper on the back of my throat nearly made me choke. Wow!

The pepper quickly mellowed and my palate started to take in the flavor of sweet earthy tobacco. Call me crazy, but I tasted mushrooms.
About the halfway point I was really glad I ate as I started to feel my head swim and a nice buzz come on. A little voice told me to quit now.

This has the makings of a good cigar with excellent aging potential. I think it's still young and raw judging from the ammonia that peeked in at the last third.

Edit because Jim is an ass! :sign:

Clearly a fake because you titled it as a T100, but the band says T110. Send the rest to me and I will compare them to my other fakes .

Edit To Add: Great review John!! Now that you fixed the title I am sure it is Authentic :).

Jim

Nice review and they really do smell like they will knock you on your ass. I'm going to let mine rest for a bit and see how they taste later down the road.

Nice review J. Thanks for sharing. Not feeling the mushrooms notes but that still won't stop me from seeking these out. :)

Damn, that thing is oily! :whistling: Scares me just looking at the pictures! I'm going to attempt to get my hands on a few of these, of course, with everyone else attempting it as well that may prove very difficult! Nice review, and nice pictures!

I was actually enjoying the buzz I was was getting from this stick. Hey Jim...does that qualify as a relapse??? Do I have to flush the rest of these that I have?

Well done my brother.

I notice like myself and Greg (KingsAnts or Old Part Shorts Fingers) you have short fingers, so I hereby call them Pork Chops

Glad to have a great post

I'm just going to go ahead and call you crazy! I definitely didn't get any mushroom in the one I smoked, but what do I know.

BTW that's one hell of a fancy ashtray you've got there Mr. Fields! :sign:

*edited to clear up that I do not have that ashtray.

you have short fingers

That's not what my wife tells me.

Yeah, it was more of an earthy tobacco, forest floor fungal smell left on the senses if you will. I don't know how to describe it other than that. I didn't mean to compare it to eating mushrooms. :p

Great review, thank you!

I've got 10 coming from a split I put together on another forum. For anyone interested Marvin still has about 50 of these boxes.. (although don't go nuts, if I like it I might get another box for myself! haha)

Portabella, Shiitake, Enoki, Button?...c'mon man, I'm partial to certain mushrooms!

Nice review, thanks for sharing. The guys I know who smoked them didn't think they were too overpowering but did notice a little pop. I suspect that their expectations were that their heads were going to be blown off so when it didn't happen, they were a bit surprised. I don;t think they would classify them as mellow though :whistling:

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to smoking this thing... don't know if I'll ever get the chance to though. The cigar looks very delicious!

Thanks for the review. I smoked one yesterday. I got a lot of black pepper as well.

The main flavor was very hard for me to associate with anything else.

I hesitate to ascribe anything other than a bittersweet quality, with the bitter component being very slight.

I also thought that the cigar took a while to develop. The second half was sweeter and more balanced than the first half.

I have a similar experience the Cohete, in that the cigar really wakes up after smoking it a while.

It did have a noticeably better burn than a lot of Pepin's creations.

Had gotten a few of these recently and took one in my travel humidor while on vacation this week in Ocean City, Md.

Have been enjoying smokes all week (even starting the day with a "breakfast cigar" each day - something I don't get do to the other 51 weeks of the year). But I digress. I just had the Tatuaje T110 this evening.

Wow - what a totally great smoke. Can't describe it as well as John/Jfields did - but jeepers what a great, flavorful experience. Took this pic shortly before I finished - never seem to get other Tats to give such great ash. Finally quit (and kept ash) at the band. Am glad I have a few more of these.

John
