My box of these came in yesterday and, after the reviews of Ed (Spivy) and Robbie (miamipadronsmoker), I couldn't resist. So . . . I smoked one yesterday and had to have another today to kick-start Memorial Day weekend. :) The kids wanted to play outside, so I enjoyed the early afternoon with them and Hank.

There isn't a lot of information for this cigar, other than it is a custom blend and sports the same wrapper as the J21, which is ligero (thanks to Ed for the info). It is named after Jose, of G Street Cigar (Massachusetts).

The overall appearance is rather rough, like most Tats, but you can tell the stick is well rolled and the wrapped foot is a nice touch of class. As Robbie noted in his review, this is a really oily stick . . . very dark in color. Pre-light, a faint aroma of tobacco graced the stogie. The draw was perfect. I did have some issues with the burn. You can see where I corrected it in a couple of the ash pics. I didn't have this problem with the one from yesterday. Regardless, it was no big deal and didn't affect the smoke whatsoever.

Right off the bat, you get a wonderful array of spice and earthiness that reminds me of that famed Partagas flavor profile. Quite frankly, I was simply blown away by the fullness and richness of the smoke. About an inch of so in, I detected a nice sweetness and notes of cedar to compliment this creamy smoke. This developed into a sweet, citrus taste around mid-smoke, with a touch of leather.

I thought the first half was good, but the back half was outstanding. The Tatuaje spice picked up and was accompanied by an earthy taste that reminded me of that Bolivar flavor you relish as an aftertaste  . . . you Boli whores know what I'm talking about, it's about like crack. Anyway, I held on as long as I could and was thoroughly impressed all around. Creamy, delicious spice with great tobacco flavor.

My only knock on this stick (Ed touched on it in his review of the pre-release) is that it really burns hot. The middle portions border on bitter-sweet if you let it get too hot. Other than that, this is one fine cigar, to say the least. I can only imagine what a little downtime will do.

Summer's here in the South, as you can see from the pic with the butterflies. Hank was nosing around watching him and decided he would try out a bumblebee. The pic of him is right before the grab. OUCH!! He's a pup, but I think he figured out really quick what grabbing a bee with the mouth means. :whistling:

Folks, get some of these cigars. I love Tats and this is one of the best.

Who's a Boliwhore?? I've got one of these stashed away, was going to let it sit for a while, however if these excellent reviews keep popping up, I might just have to smoke the damn thing! :D Thanks for the review and awesome pics!

More information on the cigar. It was not named after Jose, but he is a big fan of meats so he is making a line of cigars from Pete. Jose was supposed to get the cigar back when Dion did the Bombazos, but he waited until now.

Edit: A piece of advice for whomever is going to smoke these. Smoke them slowly and it will be sublime.

Good review. I'm paying more attention to the Tat line up and would love to get my hands on a couple of these to try. The fact that the nub turns into a butterfly once you're done with the cigar, is absolutely amazing.

Just when I thought I had chased down all the Tats that had been released, now another one. I guess the search begins again. Damn you Pete.
