well, in my holiday cigar buying spree, NorCalMark or Tower Cigars suggested the Cazadores to go along with the other purchase I made... so what the hell!
Today I smoked my first one of the batch... and it was rather nice. Although I do not think I was able to enjoy this to the full extent that I should have- more on this later!
I clipped this sucker with my brand spanking new Palio cutter, thanks to my Santa Snob (you know who you are...) and I must say... me likey! I can see what the rage is about on this cutter- smooth, quick, precise... nice in every respect.
A test draw showed a little tighter draw than I like, but nothing bad. In fact, this could have been complicated by my surroundings- outside, 20 degrees, slight wind with an occasional gust... you get the point.
So I put the lighter to it, and was instantly happy with the burn and the taste. As always, I am not one to detect faint little tastes of this and that... but the one thing I really tasted on this cigar was tobacco. Lots and lots of tobacco! I got the impression this was going to be a rather full bodied cigar (and I was right!)
But here's where my experience fizzled. But it was not the cigars fault! Lets see... first it was the damn cold north wind gusts... if I had to guess, I'd say gusts of 25mph? So the burn was not totally even as a result. That's ok! But then a little ways into it, I was fighting with 2 unruly mutts (mine!) that just would not listen. Then came the REALLY unruly mutt that wanted to fight (NOT mine) - trying to separate 2 big dogs with a lit cigar is no fun. Then later it was a lighter that did not want to work, to help touch up the uneven burn as a result of those damn cold gusts. And then a moose that was wlking in the path towards us- who gave way? US! And still unruly dogs... then another damn moose, and this one decided we were WAY too close and choose to chase us off his path! #$%^ moose... and still a lighter that did not want to light... AahhhhhhH!!!! damn I need a smoking room... it did not want to stay lit, my lighter puked out, wild animals pissing me off... yeah, not the greatest cigar walk!
Anyways, all thru this I noticed a good, fairly strong tobacco taste. The burn was not great, but I attribute that to the weather. It tried to stay even... and I did not really get a chance to detect other flavors and whatnot... it was a walk I rather would have skipped to be honest! No time to really enjoy the cigar like usual. But I also noticed a tingle, or twinge that actually, kinda, slightly, sorta somewhat, distantly, in a remote was reminded me of smoking a Habanos. Call me crazy (CRAZY!), but I'd swear it was there.
This is definitely one cigar I am going to revisit, and give the proper attention it needs! I think there is great potential here...
Oh yeah - thru all the craziness, I got one stinking photo. I was to busy avoiding moose and angry fighting dogs to get any others
