well, in my holiday cigar buying spree, NorCalMark or Tower Cigars suggested the Cazadores to go along with the other purchase I made... so what the hell!

Today I smoked my first one of the batch... and it was rather nice. Although I do not think I was able to enjoy this to the full extent that I should have- more on this later!

I clipped this sucker with my brand spanking new Palio cutter, thanks to my Santa Snob (you know who you are...) and I must say... me likey! I can see what the rage is about on this cutter- smooth, quick, precise... nice in every respect.

A test draw showed a little tighter draw than I like, but nothing bad. In fact, this could have been complicated by my surroundings- outside, 20 degrees, slight wind with an occasional gust... you get the point.

So I put the lighter to it, and was instantly happy with the burn and the taste. As always, I am not one to detect faint little tastes of this and that... but the one thing I really tasted on this cigar was tobacco. Lots and lots of tobacco! I got the impression this was going to be a rather full bodied cigar (and I was right!)

But here's where my experience fizzled. But it was not the cigars fault! Lets see... first it was the damn cold north wind gusts... if I had to guess, I'd say gusts of 25mph? So the burn was not totally even as a result. That's ok! But then a little ways into it, I was fighting with 2 unruly mutts (mine!) that just would not listen. Then came the REALLY unruly mutt that wanted to fight (NOT mine) - trying to separate 2 big dogs with a lit cigar is no fun. Then later it was a lighter that did not want to work, to help touch up the uneven burn as a result of those damn cold gusts. And then a moose that was wlking in the path towards us- who gave way? US! And still unruly dogs... then another damn moose, and this one decided we were WAY too close and choose to chase us off his path! #$%^ moose... and still a lighter that did not want to light... AahhhhhhH!!!! damn I need a smoking room... it did not want to stay lit, my lighter puked out, wild animals pissing me off... yeah, not the greatest cigar walk! :(

Anyways, all thru this I noticed a good, fairly strong tobacco taste. The burn was not great, but I attribute that to the weather. It tried to stay even... and I did not really get a chance to detect other flavors and whatnot... it was a walk I rather would have skipped to be honest! No time to really enjoy the cigar like usual. But I also noticed a tingle, or twinge that actually, kinda, slightly, sorta somewhat, distantly, in a remote was reminded me of smoking a Habanos. Call me crazy (CRAZY!), but I'd swear it was there.

This is definitely one cigar I am going to revisit, and give the proper attention it needs! I think there is great potential here...

Oh yeah - thru all the craziness, I got one stinking photo. I was to busy avoiding moose and angry fighting dogs to get any others

Man after a month and you still have to face an obstacle course just to smoke a fuggin cigar

Maybe if you offered the moose one he would have let you be.....

Man! That sure is a tough obstacle course for a smoke, remind me to not whine because i have to crack my windows while driving in the winter time. Hope the critters give you a break so you can enjoy your cigars. Best of luck, you'll need it.

Now I've heard alot of stories bout the wind ruining a smoke but a moose? This is a first on me. Glad you enjoyed the smoke all thos Tatujae's are dangerously good.

I too have tried this smoke and loved it, it DID have that Habanos flavour that Jim is talking about, a little spice / tang to start out but not to overpower. After the first third this smoke just took you for a nice enjoyable journey, full of flavour that never ended, this is not a one dimensional cigar. It was enjoyable as I tried to detect the different tastes (still refining that). Thank for letting sample this splendor.

How many actually have to worry about multiple moose while out for smoke... ???
Great story bro!
Sounds like a pretty darn good smoke!!!

Thanks!

Don't let them Alaskans bullshit ya. hell, there gettin' to be as bad as Texans. We got plenty moose right here in NH. They've been in my backyard more than once I'll tell ya. People get killed regular too, hit 'em with their cars and all.

Doc.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the review. As was said before--I shouldn't be complaining walking my dogs and smoking my cigar :)

Happy New Year!

Joe

I smoked my first Tat last night and noticed the same thing.

Jim, I am glad you enjoy the cigar, or as much as you could of the cigar. These are one of my favorites. I think if you didn't have to dodge the dog and moose you would have enjoy it even more.

Happy New Year!

NorcalMark

This is probably my favorite line for the new year. Glad you enjoyed it bro, and once again....fine lookin' pup you got there.

I will have to try this size. I havent branched out too much with the Tatuaje's. Just the Conoju 2003/2006, Regios, and Havana VI Hermosos.

Nice review Swissy. I thought I had it bad having to deal with the occasional scorpion while smoking, but moose

Tatuaje is definately my favorite. The Cazadores is on the top of my Tat list. They sell out very quickly at the B&M here. I try and stock up when they have them. Then they don't last very long in the humi. And I also get the impression of a fine ISOM while smoking one.
