I have been getting to try more and more Cubans lately(yippi). Also before I aquire these ,as with most of my buys, I try and do some research, reviews from fellows here, and the usual other places, so I know it is not just me .I know this does not only apply to Cubans but also some high end smokes. But I seem to notice it more with those ISOM smokes.I understand the build up of tar as the cigar get closer to end but sometimes it is right away or changes two or three times as I go. So why? Dave

Ya gotta stop smoking fake ones

Seriously, I've almost never experienced that with Havanas ???

Im not an expert but lots of cigars taste differant at any one point or another. With many differant reasons. Many get more mellow like the Brazilia. And some just start off milder and get MUCH stronger as you go ( graycliff espresso). and some are perfect taste and exactly the same all the way through (64's). Also if the wrapper goes around the end you may taste that first and its harsh (Hemingways). Some cigars are just so new they taste all crazy through the entire smoke or even ammoniaish( is that A word) And that is an off the rollar cuban or even some of the CAO stuff that is A new release.I also think that the more complex cigars are so differant all the way through because thats just how many differant tastes it has to offer. Aging seems to be the trick for A cigar that is not well rounded all the way through. Either way Its one of the best things when you notice all the small things A cigar has to offer and not just that its good.

I've actually come across a few cigars that have changed as a function of length. Monte #2 PUC 10/02 has done it very time I have lit one. First acidic and tannic then full volume cocoa flavors as the smoke becomes voliminous towards the end. I've found that with many cigars changes are subtle. Cocoa, coffee, earthy taste change go together with some cigars. Others show acid, leather, cedar. Example is a CoRo where there's a distinct grassiness that starts out early and fades slowly away. I'll leave the tars and condensation discussion up the veterans.
