Syria launches cigar business.....

Box split?

Is it just me, or it did look like arts and crafts day in that place.  Doesn't quite ring "quality".

Free weaved rug, with ever box purchase.

Syrian Latakia is a really nice tobacco. A lot of pipe tobacco blends were discontinued due to it not being available.
They failed to say anything about the seed being used. Should be interesting. I'd give a few a try.

As was said, Latakia is a great tobacco. Back in the 60's I had a Mershaum bought in Beruit and my bud and I smoked Latakia. Don't know how that would translate into a cigar, but I'd also try one. That being said, these will be most likely impossible to find here. Maybe our boys will find some as they trapse the foreign lands.

There is a cigar made with Latakia by AJ Fernandez called Spectre. Not a bad smoke but very different.

I don't enjoy Latakia, it's way too smokey for me.  I'm not sure I'd try one, if it contained Latakia.

Shure, send me some Syrian cigars. I always wanted to support Assad's chemical warfare programs.

Tsk tsk!! Wrong forum, Doc.

I've never smoked Latakia that hasn't been cured for pipe tobacco. They don;t mention which seed they are using. I'm Guessing oriental tobacco might be too small a leaf. I guess we'll eventually find out.

I've never gotten the impression that the Russian and Chinese were particularly refined when it came to their local market smoking products. If that is who they are targeting, it makes me wonder how good could it ever possibly be.

A lot of the wealthy in both countries are buying and aging but, I have no clue about what the mainstream is doing.

Absolutely. There are wealthy cigar smokers everywhere.

I knew that, and I willfully broke the rule. But, somethings need to be said regardless of the consequences.

FOG rule #1 - rules are optional. :)

I for one would be a little skeptical about what they would put into those cigars...especially those 'targeted' to the US market.

Definitely! But then skepticism is always smart. The last thing I need is more marcas to choose from so I'm a tough sell anyway. :p
