OK, I have mentioned these things before.
El Rey Del Mundo (NC) Cafe Au Lait.
I bought my last box about 6 months ago at JR for about 28 bucks. Yes, a tad over a dollar a cigar. They are small. 4.5 X 35 to be exact.
I like small cigars, as I have two 45 minute-an hour drives every day. These are a little short for my commute, but I still keep them around.
I went into the humi this morning to grab a few cigars for the day, and decided to reach into a box of them that I have had for roughly 2.5 to 3 years, I think. No kidding, one had plume. nice little crystals, evenly distributed. I smoked it on the way to work, and boy, was it good. Better than they are fresh, or even with a year on them. (Though, i must admit, they are even quite tasty fresh...but they are from JR, so give them a few weeks to dry out int he humi).
My usual short smokes for the drive are PAM Principes, 1926 #35, Short Stories with some age (Jim, I'll be calling you shortly for another box), Party shorts, and Boli PC's. So, for a 1 dollar cigar to impress me enough to be looking forward to another on the ride home, instead of smoking the Boli PC sitting next to it in the travel humi...well, it surprises me to say the least.
JR lists them as "medium-full", though I would say medium. They draw smoothly, with jsut enough resistence to feel like a "real cigar" despite their diminutive size. Big full mouthfulls of smoke. Burn is dead even. If smoked carefuly (not rushed) they stay cool, well behaved and tasty down tothe end, though if smoked too quickly, they are especcially vulnerable to all the shortcomings and issues that small cigars mgiht suffer from.
So, if you are in the market for inexpensive small smokes, and have some time to lay them down, give them a try! I hoppe you will be as pleasantly surprised as I have been
