Superbowl smokes

Headed off to the local cigar shop -- pizza, beer, 60" HD TV, and a well-stocked, well-ventilated place to have some good stogies for the game. But first, let me say...

That was, without a doubt, the best superbowl I've seen in recent memory. An incredible game fought well by both sides. I really thought we were going to see the first overtime in superbowl history, then Vinetari has to finally make a kick... grrrr... Still, a kick-ass game.

We had a little mini-herf going on. In brief, I had:

Añejo Shark No.77 -- great smoke as always, awesome taste, and quite smooth
Opus X Super Belicoso -- nothing like a little spice and buzz from an Opus to get things rolling; was awesome
Padrón Millennium maduro -- absolutely wonderful as always, smooth, sweet, deep, rich
VSG Spellbound -- had draw problems, then burn inconsistencies (canoeing), it was okay until about halfway through when it got too bitter; put it out at about halfway through, disappointed

Bolivar Belicosos Finos (ISOM) -- had this baby snipped and ready to go, thought I would smoke it for overtime, and it really looked like the game was going into OT, then Venitari ruins it all

Anyway, all of them were great smokes except the VSG, which was a major letdown. Given that I had the same experience with the VSG Torpedo, but a wonderful time with the Enchantment, I'm not sure what to think now.

My friend had an Añejo Shark No.77, Opus X Super Belicoso, then a Perdomo Edicion de Silvio -- he loved them all, but in order, his preference was: Añejo, Perdomo, Opus. He prefers a milder smoke, but really enjoyed all of them a great deal, and had a hard time putting them in order.

I think you are keeping the VSG's a little too wet......not to bad...easy to fix

Well, this one was right out of the shop's humidor -- you're right, it may have been too wet. However the taste... uninteresting to bitter. Very like the first torpedo VSG I had, and very not like the Enchantment (which I loved).

Nice, I smoked a PAM Monarca and a '26 #9!
Padrón slut! As one Padrón slut to another, I'm jealous. Nice smokes, those.

Sounds like a great lineup.

I had:
Partagas Serie D #3 EL
CoRo
Padron 1926 #9

Yumm...

I enjoyed both the game and the ceegar I smoked at half time. I had a Cohiba Siglo III from the "I'm a gettin' married pass". Very tastey and no burn problems at all. Probably the best game in years as coming down to the wire type of game..... :D  :p

Jeez, how did you get through all of those smokes? I had a DC Max that lasted from 6 until half time and then a PMM that lasted from the 2nd half kickoff until the trophy presentation.

Puff... puff... puff... wheeeeeeeeeze... drink some water... puff... puff... puff...

Wash, rinse, repeat... :)

For me, I started with the CoRo, but that was around 5:30 when I started prepping the food for the grill. Lasted until the end of the first quarter. Second quarter started with PSD3EL and went til the end of the 3rd. Took a break... fired up the 1926 about halfway through the 4th. Smoked that one well past the end-game celebration.

It was a GOOD day.

Comments made here.

I smoked a Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Torp. Not impressed :(

Pretty mild cigar, I did however get a very strong sweet flavor from the wrapper and the smoke. Draw was VERY tight. A great cigar for some? Not me. I give it a 6 out of 10.

I like the second half of the game (Starting with the Halftime Show! :D)

 Toaster

La Escepcion Longo.

25th Cubatabaco Aniversario.

Great game! :)

It was an all Cohiba day for me

Robusto
Esplendido
Siglo III
Pyramide SR

Uh huh, it's good to be King :p

I had a pretty good day....

Started with a Party Short while waiting on the in-laws to vacate the house...

Made it to the club to hook up with Styx and lit up a Siglo I...Not sure of plans didn't want to take too long in case we went elsewhere...

Stayed at club so at game time I lit up a Trini Fundadore....yum....

Sometime during second half or so I lit up a Vegas Robaina Farm Rolled...YUM....

Time became a bit blurry after the half time show and the free shots... :D :D :D

Hope Styx made it to work on time :sign: :sign: :sign:

What a night....Had a BLAST!!!!

First half PUNCH/PUNCH and Gin

Half time I did 4 or 5 shots called "DUCK FARTS" (if you have one, you gotta have 3 or 4 more and they seek up on you)

Second half MONTE #2

It was cool and I did make it to work on time.....FIRST DAY BACK ON THE JOB!!!!!

The other fellow we were drinking with (the new boss) was a little late for work though....HAHAHAHAHA...LIGHT WEIGHT!!!

An RyJ Exhibicion #4 2000 which had some good momments and then my one and only 1926 PAM (thanks Moki) which was nothing but yummy!! Still looking for an ISOM that can beat a PAM! :D

Ahh, cool. How did you think the Padrón 1926 Serie #9 maduro tasted compared to the Padrón 1964 maduro's?

Well, for starters, this thing was a fatty compared to the 64's I've been smokin, and even though I find that square shape of theirs odd, I love Pam's to the point to make them my fav.

As for the '26, I had hoped that they did not wow me 'cause I hate getting hooked on things I can't have! My $11 '64 PAM's are bad enough! OK, I will say that I enjoyed the moment of smoking the '26 more than my "easy to get" '64's, but it will not ruin me from ever enjoying the '64's again.

I fancy a rich, sweet, solid stick and to steel someone elses description, "nougat" flavor comes to mind. And yes, that inevitable spicy taste (which I do not like) did do a drive-by toward the end. I like the '64 because of it's ability to hold a true, rich flavor throughout, and the '26 held onto that, if not for a bit longer.

The burn was similar to that of the '64, but I may have had it a bit too moist watching it's burn pattern. LOVE the thick smoke and it's pleasing aroma. My wife: "that smells as good as the pipe", if she like the smell, my life is better!

If I were to rate a 2003 PAM '64 it would be a 94 and the same '26 would be 95. And again, thanks for the experience, Andrew. Now I'll just need to buy more to have in my collection again!

PS If you put the darn thing on a plate, cut it into bite size pieces and told me to eat it, I probobly would!! :p
