OK, I'm not much of a beer drinker other than the occasional Michelob light or Warsteiners Dunkel. After drinking my first Trappistes Rochefort 10 a few week ago, I decided to go out and get a small sampling of some beer I thought might taste good. I'm sure there have been reviews and various discussions on these but I wanted some opinions from you pros out there....Jonas, Justin, Nate...etc.
This is what I bought.

Trappistes Rochefort 8 (didn't have the 10)
Westmalle Trappist Ale Dubbel
St. Bernardus Prior 8
Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout

I really don't know what to expect out of any other than the Rochefort, that's why I'm asking. Thanks guys

Ok so my 2 cents..

Trappistes Rochefort 8 (didn't have the 10) - Fantastic, I like it as much as the 10.
Westmalle Trappist Ale Dubbel - Also a great beer, so far so good!
St. Bernardus Prior 8 - Great Dubbel, you can't go wrong with anything St. bernardus.
Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout - If not a Belgian style stout is my favorite and this is a great IS.

Well done man, let us know how you like them as you go!

Jonas

For being "not much of a beer drinker"... You picked some some damn fine beers bro!!!
Keep us posted on your thoughts on these!!! Full reviews AND pics please... ???

Those are all REALLY good beers. I'm more into quads than dubbles myself, but the Westmalle is good. I haven't had the St. Bernardus, but like Jonas said, you can't go wrong with St. Bernardus. Of the Rocheforts, I personally think the 10 is superior to the rest, but the 8 is good too. Overall I think Sammy Smith is overrated, but the IS is good, not great.

I'm looking forward to what you think of all these Brian.

Well I paired the Trappistes Rochefort 8 with a SIG IV and it was great. Then I had a Youngs Double Chocolate Stout paired with a La Aurora 1903 LE and it also was good. It surprised me because I thought the chocolate would be a little overwhelming in a beer but it was really good...not too much carbonation and pretty tasty as well
