Stem Glass GB

Stupid question as I always just drink out of the bottle. :) What does a glass do for you, and do you need different glasses for different beers? :)

The main benefit of using beer glasses is that it provides a place for a head. Specific glasses help with head formation and retention of specific styles, which in turn captures volatiles that enhance the flavor and aroma. To me there is also something to be said for the visual appeal of a beer in a glass too. I believe Doc also mentioned about the reduction of air intake, and thus less gas, when you use a glass in another thread.

I don't know much about beer and have only recently started trying good beer, but so far it seems like a glass allows some beers a chance to breath a bit and can really open up the flavors. I've had a couple beers that tasted horrible from the bottle, but once I pored them in a glass they tasted pretty good.
 
So are those 30 a dozen? Would they equally manage the head on root beer because sometimes it can be overpowering and draw away from the complexity of the beverage :)
 
I drink beer in a glass because I don't need all that gas. When you get to be middle aged, you'll understand.

edit: Nevermind, just tried ordering them and the least I can order is 24, so I'm gonna hold off ordering until there is more interest.

I'm actually gonna get them from a different site now that I know I have to order 24, and they'll be about $1.50 a glass. Not sure how much four glasses will weigh, so it's tough to say what shipping will be, but I'll ship them first class if the box is small enough, or priority if it isn't.

edit: I forgot to figure in shipping to me. Let me figure out for sure where I'm gonna order from and how much the shipping to me will be and I'll get an exact price.
 
Ok, I think I have all the kinks ironed out now. *This* is where I'll be ordering from.

The total including shipping to me is $69.18 / 24 = $2.88 per glass + actual shipping.

12 are spoken for, so there are still 12 available.

No problem here with 12 oz or 24 oz, now that i've found the world of micro brewing, i need some glasses for my friends to enjoy the necter of the gods. :laugh: :thumbs:

Unfortunately, the chances of this happening aren't looking real promising. I'll give it a couple more days and bump the thread over on BA tomorrow for the work crowd before I decide for sure.
