My camping trip in the BWCA is now in jeopardy, because they aren't selling fishing licenses, bastiges.

Any idea/news/talk about when/if this will be resolved? It's gotta be stressful for those working for the government, who depend on those paychecks.

Probably not the most PC response, but if there is no one to sell/process them who is going to check'em.

I'd hate to lose my stuff, because I didn't buy a fishing license and got caught. I'd be swimming back to Ely, MN as opposed to canoeing.

Doc makes a good point. If no one is around to give you a license, no one will be around to catch you without one. I would imagine that no one will be around to unlock the campground gates either, if there are any.

Brandon, they reached an agreement today. If you're gonna be by TC let us know. If you're in the area on August 6th even better! LMK

Best,

Joe

Yeah, sounds like it's over (though that's not official).

For you wise guys saying, "Who's going to stop you?" The shutdown did not include the enforcement arms of the numerous state agencies, just the administrative arms. So, you couldn't do any number of things involving licenses or permits, but if you acted without them, they could still pinch you for it.

You say.

:D

Is this an assumption that she's an idiot, b/c she's a porn star? :sign:

Nice tangent, I like it.

I live in North Dakota and have a lake place in Minnesota. The DNR (fish cops) are out in full force and were not affected as are Highway Patrol officers and the like. My brother in law is here from AZ and we decided to chance it and all went well. We were always looking out when we were on the lake but did not get caught. I THINK the fine for fishing with out a license is 150.00 to 200.00. Sounds like they will be opening back up next week. What a mess!

All should be back to normal soon, luckily the BWCA is a national wilderness, not a state park so it would not have been closed. But you still could not have gotten your fishing license. What's worse for some people, is that Miller/Coors failed to renew their license to sell beer in MN, and with the offices closed they couldn't renew it and were about to be pulled off the shelves!

The end of the world people who like crappy beer
