Smoking the last inch

Since I have been reading sites like mycigarblog, I have been wondering how it is that people nub cigars. I typically can get them down to one inch or so, then they are just too hot (even taking a draw much less frequently). Does everyone here nub their cigars, or leave them partial? If you do nub them, is there a trick to it?

Thanks

Draw slowly and lightly. Some cigars you never want to end, so you nub it. Others, (like the Royal Jamaica Park Lane I had tonight) I let it go to about an inch.... It's all a matter of preference.

If they're good, I'll nub them. If they're de-frickin-licious I'll do this to 'em

That is the way that works the best for me. But remember drawing slowly and lightly on a crap cigar won't make it any better towards the end, but I never let a PAM, PAN, or Opus go out until my fingers are good and burnt.

I usually dont "nub" cigars...when it gets to about an inch, inch and a half left, ill usually toss em as they get too hot and the taste starts to take a turn for the worse.

I'll smoke the good ones down until they singe my mustache hairs. Some have witnessed this! I plan on doing it with this here '64. Got to keep the stache trimmed somehow!

A good cigar will burn cool all the way down but you might have to slow down a little if you are a fast smoker.

when it gets short it starts to seem too much like "work."

but sometimes it is worth it.

Use a toothpick.

Don't be surprised if someone comes by and eats your cigar, thinking it was a vienna sausage...
