Smoking room/Office

I have an older house that has a 1-car garage. The garage hasn't been renovated in a long time, possibly ever. It is in rough shape, so we're renovating it. It has a slant roof that we're converting into a pitched roof. The garage attic will be used for storage.

Instead of using it for car storage, we're converting it into my office/smoke room.

Since it will have extensive renovations, now is the perfect time to make it smoke-friendly. The room will be approximately 9'x18'. What should I do in terms of ventilation or air purifiers? Any recommendations?

Anything else I need to consider? Thanks in advance.

I know this does not answer your question but I would reccomend starting off by hiring the girl in your avatar. WOW

I second the first motion to hire her!

And to look into a ventilation fan or two in the ceiling.

Something like this!

Ventilate!!

It fairly simple to do if you're a handy kind of guy. I have put in many of them and the higher the CFM's the better!! There are many models to choose from....in-line, ceiling mount, etc.

I like something like this...

Good luck Herb!

Since it's going to be YOUR office/smoke room, if you don't have to entertain clients in there, why sweat it? If you have or will have a working window, why not just put a window fan in it and keep it on exhaust when you're smoking.
Those built in Nutone exhaust fans DO have a nice, clean, neat appearance but they aren't quiet.

Ventilate absolutely! Any AC person can give you the best way to set up the room for ventilation. As for the noise, if its even a problem, you won't notice it after a day or two. I put a window unit A/C in my office and when on makes noise but I sure don't hear it unless I stop and think about it.

Just as important is the furniture and flooring. Do not use carpet and stay away from funiture with cloth.

Exhaust fan is a must. I installed a good quality inline fan and never regreted it. The inline makes the fan much more quiet that a ceiling mount.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Keep 'em coming! I'll keep you updated as things progress.
