and my new shipment comes in a week :0

I have some doggies (Quorum Toros) left, any tips on how to make them taste better in a short amount of time? :p I was hoping them being in my humidor for a few weeks would help and it did a bit... but not very much LOL.

Also how long do you guys pre-order before smoking? Being on a very tight budget I tend to smoke them before giving them time to age  I try my hardest but my hands always seem to wander past the dog-pound to the primos every time.

Guess I need to get a raise / win the lottery or learn more self control.

I dont smoke as often and seem to collect them faster than I can smoke them. I dont think my demand will ever surpass my supply and have 3 humis ready at my disposal. I can see your situation and would run to the nearest candy store and pick you up a few to keep you until Brown shows up at your door. :)

Wurm:

save up for a bit and/or do box splits and/or do a NSTT!

I order smoke bi-weekly regardless of how many smokes I currently have. On the first couple buys, I broke the bank and bought much more than I planned to smoke so the majority of it could sit and age for a while. If you order with regularity and smoke the stuff that your budget will allow you'll have no problems acquiring a nice stash of smokes.

Usually I am buying for 3-4 years down the road. I have enough aged stock to last me a few years. There are times however when I run across some aged stuff that is priced right and I will jump on them.

I recntly grabbed 2 boxes of RyJ Churchill Tubos from 98 along with another 2 boxes of RyJ regular churchills from 1998. That same week I was able to score 7 boxes of Upmann Super Coronas from 01.

I feel yah Wurm, some people definetly have it good. I'm lucky to get 7 boxes every few months, but I manage with what I got.

Sure does help!

Wurm we all feel ya brother but hang in there. It is tough when you first start to plan properly. The best thing you can do is find some cheaper bundles and buy them to help you stock up. After that you can concern yourself with stocking up on higher end stuff. Get yourself a budget and start blowing it :)

Aging cigars is something you get to do later in the hobby heh. I finally have SOME cigars that are over 6 months old but none of them are what would be considered high end at all. Those ones get smoked within a week or two tops.

What I think I'm going to do is take one cigar from each box I buy from now on and put a tag on it with the date purchased and TRY to let it age at least a year. Maybe getting a small nice humidor for these smokes (I'll leave the cellophane on to prevent marriage) If they are in a different Humi than my every days I might not be as tempted to make them go up in smoke.

As stated above, set a budget and then buy some for smoking and some for aging. If you start putting cigars away now,you will be amazed at how much aged stock you have 3-4 years down the road.

It's kinda like saving for retirement; the earlier you start, the better off you'll be.

 right on!

Heh, I think the *key* is being able to find smokes that you like that don't cost very much. Consider those your "regular" smokes, and only allow yourself 1-2 premiums per week.

That's kind of what I do. Saving for retirement.
