Battery opperated
Do You guys think I should put one in my humi's
Do they make such a thing?
Or is it more sh!T I dont need?

I have an air circulator aka mini fan in my 100qt cooler. How big are your humi's?

I was thinking about taking a small computer fan and somehow placing it in a coolidor. I'm sure there's a power converter that will allow you to plug it into an outlet.

What type of circulator do you have Dickson?

I have not tried this myself, but I have heard that some folks get an Oust fan and remove the scent pack (or bottle-wick) and put that into their 'dor. It is battery powered and runs 5 out of every 20 minutes. It appears that you must set it upright. It will not work properly if laying on its back. But I would think that it would operate on its side as long as there is no bottle-wick installed.

this is what I did...

just a regular Tupperware container, that I drilled some holes in. Then I cut a hole in the lid, just big enough for a computer fan. I secured the fan to the lid with drywall anchors, and presto! A perfect bead container with circulation - just make sure the beads are in a bag! I have a couple of other containers of beads in my cabinet, but this is the only one with a fan. Works GREAT! Then all I did was I got a digital timer to plug it into - it runs for 15 minutes every 4 hours. With 2 remote sensors in my cabinet, I see that I can maintain a perfect 65% RH in every corner in my cabinet.

Here's a close up of the top of the fan for anyone interested in part numbers! ;) I just got it at our local Radio Shack!

It's set to draw air into the holes (flowing over the beads) and blowing up and away. There is no noticeable change in temperatures with it running. It's handy that my cabinet has a power plug inside, but it would be easy to run the cord out of a coolidor. A desktop humi woudl be a problem tho...

I have four Oust fans in my cabinet to create a clockwise movement of air. One 'D' cell (each) runs about 90 days.

Same thing here, but I took two of them out because I was losing humidity due to too much air movement. My cabinent is probably smaller than yours though- Bruce. 6ft H x 2ft W. Two Oust fans seems to do the trick perfectly for me.

On a seperate but related note, when I turn on the ceiling fan in the smoking den, my humidity instantly drops about 5-7% within an hour. I had this happen a couple times during the Summer and could not figure out what in the hell was going on with my humidity. Finally a light went on in my head and the problem was isolated to the fan. In conclusion, I have found that air circulation is good, but too much can have a negative drying impact. Anyone else experience this? Could it be an issue of the fan's direction (clockwise vs. couterclockwise)?
