Single Malt Help

I'll be first to admit I have very little experience in the Single Malt realm. Here, on base, they have gotten limited quantities of 2 Single Malt Gift Sets. I'm considering both, but wanted opinions before I decide none, one or both (funds permitting). All bottles are 333ml size.

1: Discovery Sampler $48 - "One each from the major regions - Highlands, Speyside and Island"
- Dalmore 12y
- Tamnayulin 12y
- Jura Legacy 10y

2: Macallan Sampler $72
- Macallan 10y
- Macallan Cask Strength 10y
- Macallan Elegancia 13y

I'm not sure if those are even available in the US at all. At least not in PA (state controled system) and I have seen any adverts for either in my wandering.

I'd go for the variety pack, #1. The second one is not that terribly different from bottle to bottle, the 10yo and the cask are the same except for strength and the Elegencia is a small improvement.

As a sampler pack they don't interest me but as collectors items they do a little. I have all the scotch in both packs except for the Tamnayulin. However, I have a small fortune going out over the next few months so I'll have to skip these. Thanks for asking though.
