Howdy, first post on this form. I hope to gain some helpful knowledge on here. However this post is ment to share a little. First of all I am new to cigars. I am a long time smoker, but only recently have I fully embraced cigars. After purchasing my first humidor, and fighting with that... I have decided a cooler is the way to go. Now being fairly new and not a total die hard yet I just dont need a massive cooler. Lunch kit size would comfortably hold my collection. Now I know that's going to grow soon. In the mid size range you are open to a whole new world of coolers. Some realy attractive ones in fact. This may be a good alternative for people who would like a cooler, but want something they can still display.
Sorry to beat around the bush so much here so I will get to it now. There are plenty of vintage style cola coolers being made today. You get a display worthy piece, with the added benefit of being a fully functional cooler. Another option for guys like me who prefer the western decor. I am sure there are even more options out there and I'm hoping that others will come forward with similar ideas. I might be out to lunch, covering an old topic, but I think I'm on to something. I know personally I would buy any one of these in a desk top size.
Anyhow here are a few links to some nice enough to display coolers
(ps excuse spelling mistakes, some time my phone will auto correct some pretty interesting things)

SkyKing did a Cooler like what your searching out maybe he can give you some info or pointers. I remember he had some trouble with the humidity.

It seems he felt that the seal was suspect on that model despite the installation of a foam gasket and subsequently had to rethink it, so the lesson gained is that increased aesthetics may sacrifice a degree of performance.

This is an issue I am tossing around as we do not have a ton of closet space in my home unfortunately, so there are advantages to increased aesthetics.. Despite that I am leaning towards a moderately sized locking Rubbermaid container, or a locking dry box cooler in the 30 quart range for my first tupperdore / coolerdore.

The most important thing to check is the seal. The rustic barnwood stuff looks great but the lids don't provide the seal that you would get with an igloo style plastic cooler. I would call and ask if the seal is good enough to make the woosh sound. The Coke cooler probably would work.

Having mentioned the drawback, I did get a three season coolidor by using a bungee cord to keep the lid secure. I'm taking another stab to make it a year round humidor by pulling the silicone gaskets I installed and replacing with rope caulk. I broke down some cedar boards last night, wiped them down with distilled water, lined the interior, and put a few empty cigar boxes in to help stabilize the RH, along with some silicon beads. I won't mention the brand so as to avoid catty remarks. Just kitten.

I'll check the RH when I get home and give a preliminary report. If it looks good, I'll close it back down for several days. From my experience, it takes up to a week to season a larger humidor.

Stardard weather stripping can help with an iffy seal.

I was tempted at one point to just head to the local pottery barn, or such and get a trunk, and put a regular cooler in it. Best of both worlds, a great sealing cooler for the cigars, and a nice place to hid it in plain sight.
Right now, I just bought a plain 52qt cooler, and ordered some trays from Forrest.

If you look around, I think there are a few threads where people have converted the 150qt coolers into uprights, and built a wooden home for them.

I've been using a 1/3 size dorm fridge placed downstairs in the bar area.  Fits right into the decor and people are really surprised when they open it and find it full of cigars.  Then I have to slap them for screwing with my humidity...
