Let me start by saying I have never been a Cohiba fan. I have never smoked one that I thought was interesting, let alone good. The ones I have tried have been from reputable sources though. I decided to try the Siglo VI while shooting pool with my wife.
First off, this is a gorgeous looking cigar. Great bunch without a hard or soft spot the entire length. For the size, this cigar had a certain heft about in in my hand. Pre-light draw was fairly tight. It lit fine and tasted weak and grassy. The whole entire first 1/4 tasted weak and grassy with a small dose of pepper thrown in for good measure. I was smoking this with an Amber Bock wchich by the way was a very good pairing.
After I got through the first 1/4, I finally started to get some decent flavor out of it. So now it was grassy, peppery, and nutty. An odd combination of flavors, but it seemed to work out ok. This baby was drawing perfect, providing plenty of smoke that sorta lingers as it slowly rises from above the pool table. So the middle of the cigar was decent.
The last 1/4 was kinda blechhh. I knew this was coming as I could smell the amonia during the first 3/4 of the cigar. Well, the amonia bomb finally hit. So I purged the cigar and let it die out. After it died I purged again and relit. I was hit with an onslaught of nutty pepper smoke. That was the best part of the cigar, which lasted about 5 puffs.
I have 3 left, which I won't revisit for a long time. Good thing I have plenty of cigars that are hitting on all cylinders right now.
