Well im new to the pipe room, I only been smoking a pipe for about 2 months now. I started with a presedent pipe that my girlfriend bought me, it was only 45 bucks. I just bought a Erik nording freehand, i was so amped to smoke it when i got home i did not moisten the bowl and i smoked a full bowl. I dont think i damaged it. No cracks or any thing like that. Should i be worried about it.

Moistening the bowl (with a honey/water mix or anything else) is generally not necessary with a quality pipe like a Nording.

You may want to start with 1/3 bowls to encourage the bottom cake, but I'd say just fill it up and smoke it. If it cracks any reputable retailer should replace it at no charge. I can't think of any conceivable smoking technique that would cause a new (or old) pipe to crack.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the hobby!

Thanks for the info. Im only 23 years old and have not been around cigars or pipes to long, do you have any tips for a new guy? What about tobacco selection?

My tip to you is get out NOW while you can!!! :sign: Or you're gonna go down that road we've all gone down before.....buyin' more and more pies/cigars because we NEED them!!!! LMAO!!!

Welcome and enjoy!

yea i know i just bought the nording this week, and already looking for the next!

Here's some advice - don't leave bank/CC statements anywhere that the girlfriend can see them, Practice saying "I got a deal on it because it's a refurbished Estate Pipe" in the mirror, and get a dedicated pipe for the aromatics to smoke when around non-smokers to keep them from complaining about the smell.

I;m a newbie too, but I think that's a good start. Oh, and buy as much tobacco as you can - if you end up not liking something you try, you can always trade for something else with someone ;)
