I was flipping through youtube and found the below video.  The gentlemen states "this is why we freeze cigars" to avoid beetles. I'm confused, I thought beetles can be caused by high humidity levels.  Freezing cigars will eventually dry them out.  Just recently bought a box of behikes and spent some nice coin on them, don't want them to go to waste.  Would you recommend me put them in the freezer for a few days, thaw them in the fridge for 24 hours then back in the humidor?  I had no intentions of freezing my cigars when i first buy them but now I just might.

Yup folks do indeed freeze their cigars. Unfortunately, according to my biology teacher friend, unless you have access to a commercial freezer, that gets much colder than the one in your kitchen, you're wasting your time.

Many major manufacturers freeze all their cigars at something intense, like -60 Fahrenheit for three days prior to aging or subsequent shipping to retailers.

I wouldn't freeze any cigars unless you know you have a beetle problem. 4-5 days in the freezer than 4-5 days in the fridge then back in the humidor. This isn't a guarantee that the beetles won't come back but I've done it with success...so far... Beetles are the reason I'm moving to a wineador.

Thanks for giving me nightmares! I don't think I would put my smokes in my freezer however I would bring them to work and put them in one of the clients blast freezers that freezes lightbulb molds down to -60F in 25 mins. I would still be worried about damaging the cigars. As long as you maintain a safe temp it shouldn't be a problem!
