Cigardawg recently reviewed the robusto of this line in this RTDA thread. Our local dealer got the robusto and perfecto in so far, and given my penchant for Peruvian tobacco, I immediately bought both to sample.

Last night I had the pleasure of smoking the perfecto. It was about four inches long and was very well constructed. The draw was perfect and I actually got a little bit of sweetness out of the pre-light draw.

The burn was wonderful; no touch-ups required. The ash was grey and moderately firm. The initial tastes I got were earthy and woody, with a distinct underlying tone that I can't really put words to, but it was quite unique. The flavor never really changed much over the progression of the cigar. While cigars that don't develop ususally don't "do it" for me, this one did due to the fact the the flavor was overal very different.

The one negative is that I thought the finish was a bit short and the smoke left my mouth a bit dry (nothing a cool beer couldn't fix).

Overall I really enjoyed this smoke and recommend it to people who are open to trying different smokes.

Patrick

Edit: I paid $8 for this smoke; which seems a bit high. It will be interesting in seeing what the MSRP of these are set at.

Hey, Patrick. Nice review. I smoked the perfecto last night as well. Loved it  I liked it better than the corona gorda. I got some good flavor changes out of mine, though. Around the 2/3 mark, there was a nice burst of spice (cardamon??) and at the end there was intense cedar. Great little smoke. The ash was so firm that it stayed on past the 1/2 way mark.

As for the MSRP, Jack has them set right on. They aren't cheap. $8 is the MSRP for both the perfecto and the corona gorda. Will be interesting to see if these pop up as specials on any internet sites.
