Well... I'm here.
Nobody to HERF with, so I went out on my own to check things out. I'm staying at the Marriot SFO and, for a high price hotel, this sucks. I would never spend my own money to stay here. On the other hand, I grabbed a free trolly downtown, and found some great stuff. Sorry I didn't memorize streets, but the trolley let me off at the Burlingame station and on the street across from the station was...
One of the best Italian dinners I've ever had, down this street 3-4 blocks on the left hand side was a small Italian restaurant. Excellent food and good house chianti (sp?). Up the raod, closer to the station, right hand side was a tobacconist. Lots of cigars, but closed this late. Found a party store, next to it though and picked up a LGC Maduro Robusto. Closer to the station was a restaurant/bar called Bay Area (or something like it). Owner was an ex-marine and really great. Stiff drinks for decent prices and (most importantly) cigar friendly fully enclosed "patio" section. Basically they turned the space between all neighboring buildings into a cigar friendly patio, enclosed from the wind, it was a little chilly but had numerous heat lamps and great atmosphere.
Nice night in all, and off to San Antonio tomorrow.
