Is anyone from the San Antonio Area. I'm scheduled for a trip there Oct 10-14 if anyone wants to get together for a few drinks, smokes and some BS.

Well fellas, looks like we have an excuse to herf! Chime in if you think you can put an evening aside to show our brother some TX hospitality!

While I do not live in San Antonio (I used to), I can recommends some great places to try to 1) buy cigars and 2) herf.

Cigar Club at 1604 and Stone Oak. Great atmosphere. Overstuffed leather chairs, live jazz in the evenings, good selection of cigars, full bar. Great place to smoke. My old haunt in SA.

Club Humidor in the Quarry Market. Much better selection of cigars and better prices. Leather couch and free coffee. Very helpful staff. The owner is a friend of mine. Definitely give it a try.

Club Cohiba is a cigar lounge in Hotel Havana in downtown San Antonio. It is on a little used part of the riverwalk. Nice, but very dark. Quiet last time I was there. Full bar.

Swigs is a martini bar on the riverwalk that is also cigar friendly.

If you are at the Cigar Club or Club Humidor, ask if Larry Carrera is around. He is one of my best friends in the world and a fellow cigar lover.

You guys have a blast. Wish I could be there.

I'm soooooo in!

Fellow, Okinawa/AF BOTL going to be in TX, just let me know were and when. :)

How would you guys like me to contact you when I arrive?

I'll be at the Hilton San Antonio Airport. I stil don't have an itinerary, but I guess I'm supposed to Check in on he 9th and check out on the 14th. I'll have a couple days of leave afterwards, but won't stay there on my dime <grin>. PM me phone numbers or something.

I'll be headed to the airport in a couple hours, and wheels up by 10 am (Japan Time). I'll be landing at San Antonio Int'l at approx. 1600 on Sun. I'll try to score a rental car, head to teh hotel and it's game-on after that if ya'll can make up the plans from there. I may need a pick-up (with or without the rental car) since I don't know where anything is.

Hotel information linked above.

See y'all soon.

Ray, Rob, Thanks for the excellent welcome and great first evening. Here's hoping for more before I go and a chance to meet the rest of you.

Last night, Ray (Grand Cru No 2), Karl (Treamayne), and myself meet at Bennigan's for a nice smoke and dinner and then went to Club Cohiba in the Havana Hotel for some drinks and nice smokes. It was a wonderful time and it was great meeting another BOTL! Thanks for the sweet smokes Carl and can't wait to get together when you swing through this part of town again. And just like any Herf, here are the Pictures...

Yep, it was an awesome way to spend a Friday night! Karl, you're alright in my book, no matter what they say about ya. ;)

Can't wait to do it again fellas.

Well.... got to swing through Austin on the trip. Met up with Michael (Vewyphishy) and Jason (Peekay). Remarkkably, they haven't met up with each other yet. Both are great BOTLs. Michael and I (with his friend Scott) met a great place called Cool River and had an excellent evening in their Cigar Bar. Later I met up with Jason (who was hosting a couple of his other Military friends) as he welcomed me into his house and we relaxed out front with a nice beverage and great smoke.

Thanks guys. Hope I can swing through again.

It was definitely great to meet you Karl. I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay and have a safe trip back to Kadena. Also I hope you get to go where you want for your next duty assignment.

Say hi to that big goofy Lt. Jim Daniel for me in Japan. Stinks you can't send beer overseas.

Thanks all, that was fun.

You definitely made this the best trip I've had in TX (although it couldn't get much worse than my previous visits here <grin>)

See y'all on the flip side.

It was great to have you come through. Next time, we'll have to meet up earlier in the day. I just about passed the hell out after Cool River. :D
