I picked up a fiver of Saint Luis Rey Rothchildes (5x54) a few weeks back, and figured it was time to sample one of them. This was a fatty, at 54 ring gauge, and it had a dark oily Nicaraguan wrapper. Upon lighting there were some initial notes of cinnamon, but these disappeared relatively quickly and all that was left was a strong full-bodied tobacco taste. It was an extremely well-packed, solid cigar, but the burn was pretty uneven and kept going on runs. There was a heavy nicotine kick to it, and I have to admit that by the end it gave me a bit of a buzz. It was a good, but not spectacular smoke. I'll be interested in how they'll smoke in about a year.
