This cigar was gifted to me and I don't know what it was. It was Salomon shaped with a Hemingway foot. Smelled ok pre-lite straight tobacco but after I clipped it the draw was pretty tight. I assumed it was because of the small foot. I figured after the burn moved past the small end it would open up. I just could never get any smoke out of the dang thing. I puffed and puffed and no smoke. So I started really looking the stick over and found what appeared to be a carb about 1 inch in. No smoke poured out of it but a puff or two would escape after I took a draw. The taste was not good at this point, although it was hard to tell because I COULDN'T GET ANY DAMN SMOKE OUT OF IT! The ash held on tight until it got past the carb and there was a little bit of tooth in the ash even though I saw none in the wrapper. About one third in I started getting a little bit of smoke but the flavor was still ass like. I attempted to verify the band at this point because I have never had a CC that tasted this bad. I compared the band to a Short Churchill I have and the gold color was somewhat mute as compared to it but other that that they appeared to be the same. The burn was straight, just bad flavors and very little smoke. The ash stayed on for the first 2" or so and then dropped on my arm and burned me. Now the smell of burnt arm hair was actually welcome as a better flavor profile than I had been previously experiencing with this Dog Rocket. This stick rested in my humi for months now and I don't have any other burn issues so I think the humidity is right on. The burn was straight and never went out just no GD smoke. I know I am a noob but I do expect my cigars to produce smoke. Flavors still suck, bitter, and no discernible goodness here at all. I threw it away with a couple inches left after being thoroughly disgusted with this Sunday morning smoke. Thankfully WKOTI gave me an Illusione 88 and at least that produced smoke.

I hope someone can tell me what it was supposed to be.

I didn't see this cigar on the Vitolario on the Habanos SA website... I don't know though, if the list includes out of production cigars.

Romeo y Julieta Romeos Review:

This cigar was officially discontinued in the 70's decade, but its vitola reappeared againg when the brand manufactured the special 125 Anniversary Humidor in the year 2001.

I found this on the cuban cigar review website. Too bad you had that bad experience if it was that old. At least you got pictures to prove you smoked an aged CC.

It's really hard to get anything but the brand from the band in the OP. Even with the blurry image you can tell that they don't match up. There's a single row of text in the oval of the OP but several lines in this one.

Can you post a better photo of the band?

Sorry for the slow reply. I am sure at this point it was a poorly made fake. I am positive I was not gifted the stick Dave describes above. And it makes perfect sense that the band being faked is the latest version of the correct RyJ band.

Gosh this stick was terrible!

Good catch on the text in the line Larry! I don't have much experience in spotting potential counterfeit cuban labels.

*silver lining in scenario?* at least you don't have 2 boxes sitting in your humidor aging PJ!

Thanks for being honest in your review.
