Construction- Very nice wrapper with no veins. Medium in color. Clipped well and had a nice scent of cedar and grass.

Draw- Excellent. Not too firm and not too loose. Just right

Ignition came easy and there were instant hints of fine leather (Coach, no Wilson's here), hay, and that light cocoa taste I've come to appreciate from ISOM's (although the age mellowed it quite a bit). The RyJ was consistent for 3/4 of the stick, leading to a very light spice at the end. I was surprised at how cool the cigar burnt, even as I nubbed. Nice light grey ash that held on for 1.5 inches before dropping.

All-in-all, I would classify the 84' Churchill as a mild, consistent, and tasty smoke. This was my first experience with a cigar w/ quite a bit of age on it and I must say it was pleasant. If I could find these sticks for $20 I'd be all over them. That said, the going rate was $75 and I just don't think the cigar was worth that. It was good, but I've had an RyJ Exhibicion from 00' that was equally as good, and I can buy 15 of those for what was paid for this one stick.

I have no problem giving this stick a 92 as it truly deserves it...but that's not factoringin price, just flavor. I have another that I'll save for a special ocassion like washing the car or weeding the garden. I take great pleasure in the simplest of tasks, as it seems my life is mainly made up of those that are complex :)

A warning to those w/ power palates. This is indeed a mild smoke. If you're looking for the oomph of an Opus or the kick of a younger smoke, steer clear. If you're mission is to find a lovely and smooth accompaniment to a fine selection of Belgian Tripels, this is your guy.
