I've had this cigar sitting patiently in my humidor for... at least 5 years. I honestly can't remember exactly when I got it, but I had a friend pick this and a few other singles up for me when she was down in Cuba. It smelled fantastic! There was a mild, earthy sweetness to this cigar that was oh so tempting. The construction was alright, a few veins and rough spots on the wrapper and the only "defects" were a bit of the cap had let go and a little tearing/beat up wrapper at the foot. Luckily this didn't cause the wrapper to unravel at all.

Lighting this baby was easy, and only required a small touch up a few minutes in. The burn was generally even for the whole smoke. I found the draw to be a tad tight and didn't get very much smoke for the first 1/3 or so. I felt a hard spot right near the band, and with a little massaging and a poke or two the draw really opened up. Lots of rich smoke and a big change in the flavour profile. What started out as a regular old smoke turned into a very nice peppery cedar taste that lasted long on the palette.

Towards the end the strength really intensified, and didn't get hot or bitter. I'd say this started as a mild cigar and progressed evenly to end at a medium-strong smoke. I enjoyed this one, wouldn't call it an everyday cigar but I certainly wouldn't turn one down.

A 5-year old RyJ Churchill en Tubo? Very nice. Thanks for the review.
