Today was the day I recieved a box of assorted cigars from someone on sf (trade). anyway he sent me a R.P. vintage 1990 cigar with a whole lot of other's. This was my first 1990, I've heard pretty good reviews on it. So around 2 in the morning I took it out of my humidor, clipped it and then took it out on the front porch to enjoy the night and some music on my ipod. Apon clipping it I thought it kind of smelled like chocalate, I was looking so forward to it just from the smell alone. At first light I couldn't really detect any sort of taste, except for pretty good tobacco which is ok, but nothing interesting. For the most part this was all I detected, sometimes I got a Leather taste which I do not really like. The smoke was pretty creamy which I would say is the best part of this cigar, no harshness at all. I just wished the flavor would've been more interesting. In it gave me an uneven burn which just annoys me so much. If I bought this online or at a B&M my guess would be that it would cost around seven dollars. I cannot reccomend this cigar for the price. 2.5 stars out of 5

Good- creamy smoke, enjoyed the smell, construction I thought was nice

Bad- Leather taste which I dont like, a lttle one dimensional, Price (if i had bought it)

That's too bad. I'm a big R.P. fan and have had a number of the 1990's. I've not had that Bad-Leather taste, my only complaint is the box press on the smaller size, it makes the draw too hard, the torpedo is the best. Have you tried the R.P. vintage 1992, Decade or Old World Reserve?

No I have not yet, But I've heard that I should like the 1992 better. Is it fuller?

I think it is, to me it has a nice toasty flavor. Again, the torpedo is the best size. I prefer the Decade or the Old World Reserve. The OWR is probably my fav. Actually my local hangout has a first run box of these and they only sell them to me. It was cool to see that box opened and the wax seal broken just for me. Aged 6 years I believe, they are just a wonderful smooooooth smoke. Sorry, was just daydreaming about one. I still have the 1st out of the box which, I have not smoked yet. I'm waiting for the RP event so I can have Rocky sign the box for me.
