Has anyone here tried these? I may or may not buy a box based on your opinions. I understand that it's all about personal preference, but I would like some opinions before I spend 80 dollars on a box of cigars.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is well constucted, well presented, good draw, but it is mild and does not have the depth that other RP cigars have. For what it is, it is not bad, but I think you could get better for less money. I think he was aiming at a particular audience who want mild smokes when he put these out. If you want a mild non-nuanced smoke then this may work. I would recommend trying some from a friend before investing in a box.

Edit: This may work for a young cigar palate that is not yet used to strong nuanced smokes.

I posted a review of the Connecticut a few months back:

You may want to consider a sampler. CI used to have a Rocky Patel grouping with a few Vintage 90s, a few Sungrowns, and a few Connnecticuts (I assume it's still offered). It may be a wise purchase before getting stuck with an entire box of something you don't care for.

Doc summed it up best.
Definitely skip 'em and go for the Edges or the Olde World Reserves (maduros). Those are damn good IMHO.

Skip the OWR, the new productions are near flavorless imo. The edge still packs some taste.

R.P Connecticut is definitely a looser cigar in my book. I bought a couple bundles on CBid a while ago and they were just bland. It is not even mild. I rather smoke a Marlboro cigarette than an R.P Conn. Wonder what the heck Rocky Balboa was thinking when he wraps that tobacco crap with a Conn. wrapper. For the same money, get an Edge or the R.P Sun-Grown Select or 2nd at Famous-Smoke.

Oops, I forgot to add. One of Rocky Balboa Conn. cigar had a beetle hole in it... What fate !

I actually like these as a change of pace when I just feel like a mild cigar. I also like to have them around to give to new smokers who cant handle anything heavier. That said I wouldnt pay what they are asking for them

Thanks for all your help. I've tried the vintage 90s and 92s as well as the sungrowns, and they are too strong for my palate.

From the sounds of it, I want the 1999's. I have had one, and I vaguely remember it being excellent, but I forget.

Then perhaps the CT line may indeed be just right for you. There's certainly nothing wrong with liking a really mild smoke. It's just that these particular really mild smokes are sometimes altogether tasteless. Might I suggest a Carlos Toranos "Casa Toranos." A very mild cigar, but lots of nice flavor. Guaranteed not to overwhelm. And I believe a bit less expensive than Rocky's stuff as well.

It wouldn't hurt to buy yourself a fiver of each cigar (the R.Patel and the C.Toranos) from Cigars International and try them one after the other. And remember: never judge a cigar based on only one experience - be it good experience or bad one. Smoke at least 3 before you decide.

And don't feel pressured to keep up with everone else's full-flavor preferences. If you stay with cigar smoking, your tastes will eventually turn to bolder cigars; but don't rush it. If you do, you're liable to make yourself sick a few times and turn against the hobby completely!

Ditto. Enjoy what you enjoy and don't apologize for it. That is why there are so many types of cigars out there. We all have different palates. Good smoking!!
