I tried my first RP cigars this past weekend. I had an REO, several Edges, and a 1992 Vintage. I thought they were all very tasty and burned perfectly. They reminded me of the Nicaruguan Juan Lopez I had a few weeks ago.

I looked around and found the Edge for $2.95 a stick, I ordered 25 and may get another batch when I see how they are.

What other cigars have a similar taste?

P.S.
I also had my first Padron 1964, I wish they were cheaper or I was richer.

When Uncle Mikey reveals THIS cigar, you should give it a try. Very similar to the Edge's flavor with a little more spice in the beginning.

As for Padron's? Try the x000 series. Very cheap and tasty.

I have tried a bunch of Rocky Patel cigars and haven't found one that I would smoke again. I don't understand the fascination with these things. The Vintage sungrowns I tried all tasted like dirt and the Edge did nothing for me.

The Edge Missile is a strong flavorful cigar, but it's one dimensional. The other Edge's are more mild. Same flavor from start to finish on all the edge's. As for the other RP cigars? I haven't found any that I care for either.

I, too, am a fan of RPs. I like the Edge maduros and the 1990/1992 Vintages. I am not a huge fan of the Sun Growns, but they are not a bad stick. I also like the Old Worlde Reserve...great smoke.

For something similar, Caribe (the makers of Camacho) is coming out with an unbanded cigar...sold in boxes of 100 this year. I can't remember the name, but I loved it. I enjoyed the flavor profile more than the Edge...it was spicier.

I've smoke more RP cigars than I can count. A good 100 since Sept 10th. Glad ya mentioned the Old World Reserve Cigardawg cuz I have one in my Humi that hasnt been box pressed. Well, I had 2 but I gave one to OpusXKC. A trip to the factory ensured that little tasty morsel. I myself do not like the Vintage 1992. Its hard to go wrong with his cigars usually. But atm, I'm kinda RP out. Wait till I get some pictures developed, I will post some with me hanging out with da man.

As for other sticks like them? I cant name one that his remind me of. They are a unique blend that doesnt have that "Honduran funk" as I call it which happens at the end. Not with his tho. Always burn my finger tips. I will be sending a nice one to Rod which is unknown which one it is so he will have to post about it and 2 Vintage 1990's.

The Maduro Missle is pretty good. Cherious the Sun growns that is out, cuz that blend is gone. I have one in the Humi and I cant smoke it knowing that blend cant be made any more. :( Why is their Hype? Cuz its a good cigar for its money. Just like Opus X and Padron have alot of hype. Because for the money, its hard to beat. I'm not saying a RP is better than the other 2, but if you compared the price of the stick to the quality, it is worth it. But if you learned about RP, you would find out that he started his company from scratch, not inherited it and learned from other family thats been growing it. He has my respect and I've hung out with the man for nearly 4 days. I cant stress enough how cool this man really is. All I can is, I like RP cigars.

I don't think the cigars that I thought were RP Edge actually are. I started to smoke the last one I had last night and measured it. It is 5 1/2 x 50 and definitely not one of the Edge Missile.

There just isnt the Missles. There is different shapes of the Edges that are that length. The Indian Tabac which is also RP's, has a band on them. From what I have seen. Only ones that I've got without bands is the Edge's and I've smoked my fair share of those.

These were in the 100 count edge box. As I said 5.5x50 ,standard Parejo shape, no band but they were in cello.

I couldn't find them on the net, doesn't mean they don't exist.

If I smoked one, I could tell ya a more informative decision. :D

I've never seen them in cello. There are a lot of 2nd's out there, of this cigar. If you've ever had a real RP Edge, they have a very distinct flavor. You could never mistake it for something else.

Best kept secret in the cigar industry....Rocky Patel Sungrown Factory Seconds. To the casual eye, youd never notice any difference between these and the non seconds ones. There might be a slight spot in the wrapper here, a nick in the cap here, but other than that, they smoke just like the more expensive ones and taste just as good! Just bought 3 bundles of em last week!

You cant mistake any RP cigar whether its the IT, Vintage made at General, or Edge by smoking the cigar IMHO. The Edge is some nice looking wrapped cigars. Pretty dense and rolled nicely. I just wished I had a digital camera, I'd take some pics from the RP stuff I saved from Honduras.

I just smoked a RP 1990 Vintage that I've had for about 2 years...WOW.

I gotta give props to the 90/92 Vintage. Gotta pick up some more of them soon.
