So I was up in the twin cities yesterday, to pick up as many Opux X's as I could from the shop that had them, and they have a good size cigar lounge as well, so I decided to get something to smoke right there and relax.
So purely based on appearance I got a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Toro. I think I paid a little over $6.00 for it. I've since seen them for around 5 over at CI, and I'm sure there are other deals out there.
Well, I didn't take notes, and I can't with certainty say what types of nuts, coffees or whatever this tasted like, but it was great! I really enjoyed the hell out of this cigar! For me, it seemed like the perfect balance of power, not too mild, and it didn't leave me running for the porcelain god. The store owner said that the 1990 vintage is more mild than the 92, so I'm not sure that one would be for me. The volume of smoke, and the draw also seemed perfect. At first, after I cut the cigar, I thought it may be pulling too easy, however after I lit up, it was perfect. And it burned perfect, never needed adjustment, and the ash was pushing two inches before I removed it. I would have just let it fall when it wanted to, however I was indoors, and it's not my floor!
I highly recommend this cigar, I know I'll be looking for box deals so I can always have it. Along with K. Hansotia Signature, Mayorga and Fonseca Delicias, it's my new go to smoke!
