So I went to Trader Toms this afternoon, planning on getting a nice gar and sitting and reading Jim Rogers Adventure Capitalist....
I walked into the humidor and immediatly one of the guys popped in to tell me to try one of the new Rocky Patel Edge's.... There were two good sized chests of them, a natural and a maddie. I usually prefer maduro's so I got one of those, paid my $6.15 ad went off to smoke...
The first problem was that for some reason I couldn't get a nice cut on the cigar.. I used a xikar that the store had out and ended up with a very shaggy cut. I then attempted to clean it up with another cutter thinking that maybe somehow the xikar I used was dull...
I eneded up getting it somewhat cleaned up, but the tobacco didnt want to cut, it just tore, regardless of the cutter I used (try a punch maybe?).
So, now I sit down in the nice leather chair, take a prelight draw... and nothing... I've got a pack of marlboro's in my pocket that have more pre-light aroma to them...
It took a minute or two the get the cigar lit, it just didnt want to catch. Plus, when I did get it lit, it burned completely irregularly...
It didnt have a bad taste to it, it just didnt have much taste... I sat and smoked it anyway while I read and drank my coffee. I did have to touch it up a couple times as it never got a nice sharp burn going...
The draw was ok, and the finish was a bit better. About 2/3rd;s of the way down it got some of the peppery-ness that I like and with about 2.5 inches left I just put it down and let it go out...
I dont see what all the hype is about, its not a very good stick. For the price I could have gottten 3 fumas or a pair of Sancho Panza's and been much happier...
Or, I could have used that 6 bucks for gas and toll money and taken the half hour drive to windsor to World of Habanos...... Hmm.... World of Habanos...
I gotta go folks, I just remembered some very important errands I have to run in windsor.... See ya'all later....
