I'll be helping my sister move from Illinois to Seattle Washington, we're driving and don't really have a big deadline so I can make some stops :). This is kind of late notice, as I'm leaving tomorrow, but I will be able to get online at various times. I'll for sure be stopping by the outlaw in kansas city, but besides that I don't know of any other places.

Here are some of the cities I believe we'll pass through/near
Omaha, NE
Sioux City, Iowa
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Rapid City, South Dakota
Billings and Missoula, Montana
Spokane, Washington
and finally Seattle, washington

Thanks for any advice/replies!

Edit:
Scratch going to the outlaw, turns out we're leaving from chapaign not southern illinois :(

Is your family from Champaign or is your sister just there for school? I grew up in Champaign.

No recommendations for cigar shops, but heading west on 74 into Iowa, stop at Ross' Restaurant at exit 4 as soon as you cross over the river if you're hungry. Order the Volcano. It's a slice of Texas toast (like toast, but larger--you know, like things from Texas...) piled with your choice of either fries of hash browns, then a layer of "Rossmeat" (their seasoned ground beef) then chili then cheeze then chopped onions and then you apply as much Tabasco green sauce as you'd like. Delicious, although it may not be the perfect food for a 2,200 mile road trip.

Expect few (if any) cops on 74 between CU and Bloomington, and then more cops between Bloomington and Peoria (especially near Morton and in the hilly areas where there are lots of trees between the east and westbound lanes). Once you're past Peoria the enforcement slacks off a bit for the rest of 74.

Oh man the volcano sounds awesome, I'll try to stop there if we hit it at the right time of day. The patroller info is also very useful, and much appreciated, I'm gonna write that down heh. Thanks man!

The Volcano is awesome. Back in college (went to Augustana in Rock Island), I ate two and a half Volcanos on two separate trips within one 24-hour period.

You're in luck. Ross' is open 24 hours a day. I know the directions may seem incomplete, but seriously, all you need to do is get off at Exit 4 right after you cross the bridge and you can't miss it.

This thread is making me very hungry for a Volcano. I'll be in Arlington Heights and Champaign shortly, so perhaps there's a road trip to the Quad Cities in my future. After driving from Miami to Chicago, what's another 360 miles on the odo?

Sorry for the lack of follow up posts, guys. I went to rain city cigar, there was a very nice lady working who's name I forget, I picked up a few PC's because I haven't smoked much in that size. They had a fairly good sized cabinet humidor with a decent selection. After that I went to a place in downtown Seattle that seemed to sell cigars as more of an afterthought. They had a walk in humi with some low end stuff, and a small selection of mid-range, with a surprising amount of of NC cohibas. At the end of the day we went back to Kirkland(the suburb where my sister was going to live) and stopped in at a shop in a small mall-ish area there, which had the widest selection I've ever seen in a B&M. The guy had so much stock in his walk-in that he had to put in 3 large cabinet humidors to hold the higher end stuff, and didn't have enough room in the probably 10x17' walk in to have all of the boxes open, it was quite impressive. I can't remember the name of the place at the moment, but if you're ever in the Kirkland area I highly suggest checking it out.
