Scot (cigardawg), myself, and another friend are heading down to Richmond, VA to the Short Pump Havanna Connections store tomorrow morning. We'll probably do a bit of shopping and then head over to Bailey's for a couple cigars and some lunch. Love to have anyone in the area come and join us! We plan to arrive at Havanna Connections (the Short Pump) store when they open (around 10:00 am) and spend a couple of hours there. PM me for my cell phone number if you think you may be around and want to join us.

I will be tied up almost all day Saturday.....

I would however suggest a better shop for you guys to go to....Havana is ok but old Virginia Tobacco Co. has a much more knowledgeable staff as well as one of the best sellections of cigars around!

They are located in Carrytown. PM me for directions for I64 if you're interested!

Been to Old Virginia. They do have a good selection, but I didn't think as good as Havana Connections. They probably did have more AF and padrons. Might can make it over there, but Short Pump is so easy for us.

If everyone is up for it, I guess we could check it out.

That says it all right there. I'm up for hitting there as well if we have time.

Here's my take on the Richmond shops....

I started out buying from Shorty's shops (Havana Connections) I spent a decent amount of money there and they would get the Opus and VSG and stuff but it would be gone that day. I did actuall get some VSG's once. I was talking with Shorty about Opus one day and he asked me what I had. Then, I had right many and some unreleased sticks, TTA, etc. He said I had fakes, which I know I don't but it was the attitude I could have done without....Thus, I took my business elsewhere.

I know all the guys at OVTC. Great sellection and they always turn me on to the hard to gets. Nice smoking area up front, comfortable chairs, expresso, etc.

Enjoy!

I've seen that B.S. all too often Lee. I'm 95...no more like 99% mail order now. If I want a hard-to-get Fuente or 20, we all know where to go offer Habano's in trade :)

Great day in Richmond today. Started out at Havana Connections, bought a few sticks, and sat around and smoked one. I had a RP Vintage '90 - very nice cigar. I will definitely get more of these. Then we headed off to Old Virginia. Nice place. They had a couple of Padron Anniversarios vitolas for good prices. I am all stocked up on them right now so I didn't get any. Pretty weak selection of Fuente today. All they had were Don Carlos and a few Hemingways (all natural). Didn't end up buying any sticks there but got a cool Diablo hat.

After OVTC we went to a wine store and bought some port then to a chinese food buffet - really good for the money. All in all, a great day of cigars and camaraderie. Sorry about the short notice (it was pretty spur of the moment). Hopefully next time we can get more CPers to join us.

I can see where you are coming from talking about the attitude from Shorty and even some of his folks. I personally like the guy. However, I think you just have to tell him you think he is full of crap when you think he is full of crap. He seems to take it pretty well. I will say this for the shops in Richmond (HC and OVTC), they all make at MSRP (or even a little below) and they all have great selections.

Thanks for mentioning OVTC...I hadn't been there in a while. I had forgotten how good the selection and prices really were. Jim is right, we had a great day.

Look forward to meeting you sometime when we are in Richmond or you happen to come west.

LOL

Yeah, I pretty much told Shorty what I thought....what I didn't tell him was that I have more sources for rare Fuentes than he will ever have! LMAO

Jim and company at OVTC are the best! Excellent prices and they keep plenty of what I like in stock!

I'm sure we'll be able to meet up one of these days!
