Until I get my humidor and get it seasoned I'm keeping my cigars in a plastic tub. I've found red cedar in 3 or 4 different sizes but no spanish cedar.
Since this would only be for the time it takes to condition my humidor would the red cedar be OK or should I keep looking for spanish cedar?

Jesus H. Christ don't use Red cedar. It's an aromatic, good for keeping moths out of your wool garments but would suck for cigars. Red cedar isn't really a cedar, but a juniper.

OK I guess that's a resounding "NO" to the red cedar! :D  :0  :)  ???
If the cigars will only be in the plastic container until my humidor is ready should I even worry about putting wood in there?
I mean it's only gonna be 1-2 weeks unless I have problems keeping the humidity levels up in my humidor.

Nah, the cedar is just an affectation. Spanish cedar is becoming an endangered species and many cigar makers are foregoing the use of the wood in their boxes.

I just got the red cedar slabs I ordered off ebay and I see what you guys are talking about.
These things are WAY stronger than the blocks I got from Meijer.
And the smell is pleasant but it's also very sharp and pungent.
These slabs make the blocks from Meijer smell almost unscented.
