Red Auerbach is lighting a premium somewhere

Yup. There was no way the Celtics would allow Phil Jackson to tie Red's record. By all accounts Auerbach didn't care too much for Jackson, because he took too much credit for his success.

It's already tied. The Game 6 victory kept Jackson from breaking a tie with Auerbach for most titles by an NBA coach. Each has nine. Maybe next year....
