Really Expensive Ashtrays

Do you keep it in the box, or do you use it? Personally, I can't see not using, but I wanted some feedback.

You should have bought yourself an ashtray that wouldn't fill up w/ one cigar. Then you could have saved yourself money and bought a box of cigars w/ the leftover. Must be nice to have the bank to buy that and neglect other aspects

I have a $20.00 Padron ashtray(the large square black one) but I would buy an OpusX one if I could catch a good deal on the full color one. If I did aquire said ashtray I would use it, I don't see the point otherwise.

I contacted the seller after it ended, and struck a deal for 220 plus shipping, and he's throwing in a GOF... :thumbs:

I would feel a little dumb not using it. I'm sure it'll lower the vaule, but hell, I think it's awesome!

I have a few I don't use. Habanos SA special editions (Cohiba 35th, 500th Anniversary, Vegas Robaina...) I smoke outside generally, so I wouldn't bring a nice one like that outside to use. If I smoked inside, a nice crystal one would get use, but the other ones would just colect dust.

That's what I got!! Picked up a custom one at the LVCS a few months back. Man that sucker rocks! 4-5 guys herfing and we still didn't fill it in one day. I do like the Opus ashtray, but as far as a collectors item I don't think anyone willing to buy one will have a hard time getting there own. Good collectors items are things that only a few can find and buy like the $2,000 cohiba jar of 01 anniversary cigars!

Not that would be a find!

The answer to your question is "Keep it in the box".
A collector would always prefer a Mint In Box item to a used item and its' value is determined accordingly.

Now if the question was "BOTL's: Should I use it or keep it in the box?", my answer would be different!

well if you bought it to resell dont use it. but if you bought it cause you dont have an ashtray then proudly display and use it. for that kind of money id carry it with me everywhere i was gonna smoke a cigar. imo enjoy it thats why you bought it. even your finest cigar in your humi is gonna get smoked eventually :thumbs:
