I've done this before and it was a lot of fun...so I figure if I can pull the post padding off this time for the ESG...then great!

I just pulled the cello off of the ESG and took a good sniff off the foot...I can tell the filler and binder are just plain old, very high quality VSG tobacco. Has a similar smell to the newest VSG wizard #37. Wrapper has the very familiar smell of Opus X. So now to the light...

Cut the cap with my good 'ol Xikar...snip snip!

Warmed the foot and lit it with a cedar spill. The first flavor to hit right at the start is the spicy fruit of the Opus X wrapper...but there is the background of pepper spice of the VSG...interesting.

By the way...I am pairing this evenings festivities with a glass of Macallan 12 year ols single.

Half an inch into it...wonderful! Smoothing out a little bit already, with a very big mouthful of aged VSG tobacco. But still has that Opus twang...

About 1.5 inches into it now...man it's good. It has mellowed out conciderably and it is just so smooth and tasty...

The ash is rock solid...just tried an ash stand for kicks and it held. WOW!

Very nice...keep it coming!

Two inches in and the ash fell onto my shorts...damn it. But then again...the flavor just rocketed into something else. This a great example of what Fuente can do with VSG filler and the geat Opus wrapper. The flavor has now hit the phenominal level. This taste like a well aged VSG...all of the spice and smoothness is there along with the great earthy tones and straight tobacco that VSG offers. Very tasty...

Lots of smoke...tons. The smell is very sweet, like candy. Almost too sweet.

Now the middle and end of this cigar was enchanting...

it got so good and full tasting that it was too hard to put down. All I can really say about this without getting into so much redundent VSG and Opus references, is that it is something i would like to smoke often and enjoy.

If you have the means...try one...if you don't like them...send them to me!

Cool review Fetter. I knew that you could not hold out for much longer with that thing sitting in your humidor. I know it was calling you. :D

Great review. I couldn't agree with you more.

Have you got your hands on one of these yet, Wyatt?

As it turns out a fab BOTL, tasman, out here shmooozed his way into getting a B&M to ship him some out here. So one day he gets a package and hands me two of these bad boys as a gift.

Then simultaneously another great BOTL, preembargo, purchased me one from a dealer he knows. So now I have three!

preembargo is sending me mine to my home address to smoke, since I go on leave tomorrow!!!!!

I plan on smoking it and grillin' some Hillbilly Ribs.

I'm psyched for you...an ESG and time on leave! Your in for a treat. I wrote earlier on my experience smoking one last week. I remembered in an earlier thread that your wrote that the chances of picking one up over there were slim. I'm so glad you picked one up, I feel less guilty now. Have a great time and tell us what you think.

Thanks for the review. I normally don't smoke churchills, but I may have to give one of these a go if I can track 'em down.

Wow,

Great review experience, Fetter. This sounds like something I'd want to give a try some time.

Well done.

Thanks for the tease now i'm really thinking of smoking one of the two i have right now.

Like I stated...buy them if you can...try them and enjoy.

Sorry, all, for the pathetic review. I wanted to do better but the "Real Time" thing was thrown out the window as I got into the cigar and started to enjoy it more and typed less. I guess that goes to show for the great taste and joy that it brought to me. I do want more...bring them on!
