Ok. So I finally after smoking a few singles here and there I made the
plunge and went on Holts.com and had cigarafficianado.com in another
window, and literally went down the top rated cigars list and bought 2
of each and a few sampler packs. Let me know how I turned out, if I
bought any particularly bad ones, or if there is a really good on in
the list I got. I bought 2 boxes of Onyx Reserves because I had a few
and they were great and because they were ranked so high on Cigar Afficiandado (94) I figured it be good to keep some aging around or to hand out to friends cuz they are $3/stick.

1) Ashton VSG Tres Mystique Natural
2) Onyx Reserve Mini Belicoso
3) La Gloria Serie R #6 Nat.
4) Arturo Fuente 858 Nat.
5) C.A.O. eXtreme Robusto
6) Ashton Cabinet #3
7) La Perla Habana Black Pearl Gran Robusto
8) Romeo & Julieta Cedro Delux #2 Natural
9) Punch Gran Puro Rancho
10) Partagas Black Label Clasico
11) El Rico Habano Maduro

Looks like you got some great sticks there  ! Next time you buy, get the 8-5-8 in Maduro and the La Gloria in Maduro. Just to see which one you like best.

I've had the 8-5-8 Maduros before and they are good. I had maybe 3 of them, but started out a bit harsh but definately smoothed up. This order was for me to sample some new things, the 1 AF 8-5-8 came in a sampler pack. I don't think I've smoked anything from my list up above except for the Onyx Reserves

Stop wasting your money buying what other people like. Reviews are very subjective and the only person who knows what you like is you. Case in point.... I thought Onyx was terrible regardless of its rating..... others swear by them.

The fact that I didn't like it does not mean they are a bad cigar....only that they are a bad cigar to me. We did a few blind reviews here not to long back..... you should be able to find them in the completed pass forum. Very interesting reading how everyone rated the exact same cigar.

The Tres Mystiques are awesome little sticks. The Onyx and Partagas Black are also very nice smokes. I don't care for the El Ricos or Gran Puros but some love them. As Allofus says, your mileage my vary :)

I agree with Kenny. It sounds like you've got a nice selection to sample and what the so-called "experts" at cA said about a cigar may not agree with what your thoughts and opinions are.

Personally, I'm a big maduro fan but there are others who can't stand 'em :0
Oh and for instance, I think Ashton VSG's are overrated, over hyped, too epxensive and really do nothing for me BUT there are MANY who disagree with me on that :p

Of the cigars on your list, my personal favorite is the Onyx mini belicoso and the El Rico Habano maduro but again, that's MY preferences and you may enjoy others far more than I would ;)

Try Oliva "O" Bolds if you ever get a chance ;)

Mhm. Yea I'm looking at it right now and I definately see the 2 limit. I ordered 3, and my buddy ordered 3. I guess they let it slide, and I saw one in my local tobannist for $8, and I picked up 1.

I agree with the O's, nice cigar. I also want to suggest trying 2 of each of the Torano lines of cigars. :D Yummy... Try each of the CAO lines also. I prefer Brazilia and eXtreme because they are very full flavor and good strength. Also the JGC Serie R in maduro is a good cigar. Happy smokes.

I tried the CAO Extreme with my buddy, we both thought it was ok, It was good but I probably don't want to get it. It was almost as bad as the La Perla Habana Black Pearl that knocked me to the floor and had me hugging the floor for fear of falling off of it.

I think I'm more of a Maduro person with the chocalety earthy tastes. I will have to see if I can get some of the "O" cigar to try it.

I third the vote for the VSG.
Great smoke and verrrry smooth.
