Just got back from a long assignment in Sweden. To celebrate the end of the project and arriving on American soil, I decided to light up an aged RG PC in the AA Admiral's Club lounge during my 4 hour lay-over at Chicago O'Hare.
With a Sapphire tonic to accompany it, I took the cigar out. The band was yellowed from age and the wrapper was a dull brown color. Pretty ugly looking stick really. The cigar was firm to the touch and had a nice aroma. I clipped the head and took a pre-light draw. No powdery taste with a good hint of the flavors that were coming. The cigar lit quite easily with quite a large volume of cool bluish white smoke.
That first draw was excellent and it had a perfect draw throughout the 45 minutes it took me to finish the stick. It was light to medium bodied, and had a spicy flavor with hints of cinnamon and an earthy undertone. I also noted a nice hint of coffee and cloves. The flavors constantly changed, surprising me with how complex it was for such a small stick. By the end the spicyness mellowed quite a bit (or my palate got used to it) with no hints of bitterness or any harshness. I smoked this gem all the way down until my lips started burning. Definitely one of the best smokes I've had. It was a pretty ugly looking stick, but it had a perfect draw, great burn, volumes of smoke, and amazing smoothness. Wow, what a great smoke. It was so good that I was able to enjoy the view of the heavy snow storm happening outside instead of worrying whether it would delay my flight or not. This was my first cigar that had more than 5 years on it and it was just absolutely incredible.
I score it a 93.
